Sony Unveils Its First Xperia Handset Running Ice Cream Sandwich – Xperia neo L

Up until now, all the handsets from Sony’s NXT series of Xperia handsets run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, including the flagship Xperia S handset. Today, the company has announced its latest addition to its Xperia line-up, the Xperia neo L, which runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

However, Sony has made quite a lot of compromises on the hardware side to make the neo L a tempting handset. The specs of the neo L are nothing to be proud of – a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM, 1GB of internal memory, microSD card slot, 5MP camera with LED flash, a 4-inch LED-TFT screen with WVGA (480×800) resolution all inside a thick 12.2mm body powered by a 1500mAh battery. The 5MP snapper at the back of the handset is aided by an LED flash, and is also capable of recording videos in 72op HD resolution.

Internally, the neo L is similar to the Neo V, and externally, the only difference is the bigger screen and the four hardware keys on the front along with a different design. The neo L will hit the retail stores of China only at the moment at an unknown date and price. Sony should however announce the global availability of the handset soon as well.
