LG Thrill 4G Announced; Sports A Glasses Free 3D Capable Display

LG and AT&T have just announced their latest addition to their line-up of Android handsets the LG Thrill 4G. The handset is basically the AT&T version of the LG Optimus 3D.

The Thrill 4G is powered by a 1GHz dual-core OMAP processor and dual-channel 1GB RAM. The handset features a 4.3-inch glasses free 3D LCD display with WVGA (800×480) resolution. The 3D display can also be toggled to work in 2D only mode.

Preliminary benchmarks suggest that the OMAP processor in the Thrill 4G is powerful than the Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset found in the Motorola ATRIX 4G.

LG_Optimus_3D

The back of the handset sports dual 5MP camera so that the handset can take 3D pictures and record HD videos in 3D as well. LG will also offer users with 3D content via their own LG 3D Space’ service.

“LG is very excited to offer the LG Thrill 4G to the next generation of thrill seekers. We have taken mobile phone technology to the next level with another first to market feature, this time being 3D capabilities,” said Tim O’Brien, vice president of marketing for LG Mobile Phones.   “This device elevates everyday tasks and entertainment to a new dimension of smartphone performance, giving LG Thrill 4G an edge over other devices in the emerging superphone category.”

The usual Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, DLNA, microSD card slot, FM radio and HDMI-Out. The handset will launch with Android 2.2 Froyo, but LG has promised to release the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the handset soon after.

Sadly, LG and AT&T have not mentioned anything about the availability and the pricing of the Thrill 4G, except for saying that the phone will be available in the coming months.

Rumors of the LG Optimus Pad, an Android tablet by LG first started circulating in October 2010. Details of the LG T-Mobile G-Slate were also leaked a few weeks back. Today, we have more details of the Optimus Pad. It seems that it’s identical to the T-Mobile G-Slate, but will be available worldwide.

A leaked press release by Hankyung reveals the launch details as well as the hardware specifications for the LG Optimus Pad. It will have an 8.9 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 3D support as well as multitouch capabilities. It will have a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels.

It will be powered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 platform and will come with a dual core processor, and will likely have 1 GB RAM.

It will also have a 5 MP camera with dual LED flash and a front facing camera. It will have 32 GB internal storage and should come with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS etc. It also has a 6400 mAh standard Li-ion battery powering it. LG Optimus Me P350 Unveiled by LG

LG has just showcased one of its newest budget Android smartphones on Facebook. It’s the LG Optimus Me P350, a cheaper version of the Optimus One P500, which is the best budget Android smartphone currently available.

The LG Optimus Me will supposedly be more stylish than the Optimus One, but will offer almost similar hardware specs.  It will have a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, a 600 MHz processor and most probably, 512 MB RAM. It also has 140 MB internal storage and supports up to 32 GB microSD cards. The specifications are almost the same as the Optimus One, which is quite good.

It will have a 3 MP camera and should come with Android 2.2 Froyo. LG has promised an Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade for the LG Optimus One, so the Optimus Me will probably get it too. It will also sport all basic connectivity options – GPRS, EDGE, 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and GPS. It will be available in 5 different colors and should be priced lower than the LG Optimus One P500, at about 10000 INR or $220. LG Optimus 2X Quadrant Benchmark Score

LG announced the Optimus 2X last month. The Optimus 2X was the first phone announced from any manufacturer which is based on the highly anticipated Nvidia Tegra 2 platform. Nearly all the upcoming handsets and tablets from all major manufacturers will be based on the Nvidia Tegra 2 platform.

However, as much as we have heard about the Tegra 2 platform no company has provided us with raw benchmarks of the device, until now that is.

Thanks to Tech Bloggr, we have got a video of Quadrant in action of the LG Optimus 2X-:

LG Optimus 2X Quadrant Benchmark

Here is the link to the video for all our feed readers.

As seen from the video above, the Optimus 2X literally blows the competition away. The phone scores a whopping 2391 in the Quadrant benchmark. However, we should keep in mind that the Quadrant app has still not been optimized for dual-core processors.

The app still sees the dual-core Tegra 2 processor as a single core one.   Once an updated version of the app comes out, we expect these numbers to improve.
