White iPhone 4 Spotted at Burger Joint in Minneapolis

The elusive White which has been spotted in various locations including UK seems to be rearing its head out once again, this time in Minneapolis, USA.

White iPhone

The website Just Judy Judy Judy was the one which spotted the white iPhone at My Burger in Downtown Minneapolis. The guy who had the white iPhone does not work for iPhone and instead works for a company called AutomotionTV. Not surprisingly, the guy was not keen to answer how he got the phone. However, someone outside Apple having a white iPhone definitely sounds fishy right? However, it might be that the guy had some friends who gave it to him.

White iPhone Minneapolis

According to a statement back in July, Apple had said that the white iPhone will be available in late 2010. However, December is already here and there is still no sign of it, so could Apple be planning to launch the device before the holidays? Not sure, but it might just spring a surprise.

So did you put off your plan to buy an iPhone to wait for the white one? Or are you planning to buy the white iPhone too? If yes, you might just get a surprise announcement from Apple soon.

Thanks for the tip Judy.

Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 1 Leaked on Torrents

Hey, Harry Potter fans, don’t visit any torrent sites this week, the latest movie in the franchise, more specifically the second to last one Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 has been leaked on torrents.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows which is set to premier this week on Thursday has apparently been leaked on torrents. However, it contains only the first 36 minutes of the movie according to Torrent Freak.

Released by the group iNK, the leaked copy is not a usual DVD screener. Yes, the watermarks and other screener features are there, but instead of the full film the leaked copy only covers the first 36 minutes of the highly anticipated release.

As you can see, this is more likely than not a leak created to create anticipation of the movie, which has earned billions of dollars for all it’s previous movies in the series.

All in all, leaking just 36 minutes of the movies will create a huge suspense among users who would want to watch the movie, and according to Torrent Freak, the movie is already being searched by thousands of users on BitTorrent sites.

If this leak was a controlled one, it looks like a good move by a movie studio who is playing on user anticipation and curiosity even before the movie has released. Leaking Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows before the movie even released and providing users with a view of what they can watch will in fact draw a few users out of those millions of leechers to the theatres, what say?

Farmville privacy leak leads to Zynga fighting a lawsuit

Well, everyone demands a catchy headline so don’t complain!

Lots of people play Farmville, constantly bombarding their friends and enemies with a trail of Farmville and Mafia Wars updates such as I just found a pink cow that can ride tricycles!and My pal here is gonna kill your pal there”, problem?. Apparently, they all value their privacy a lot. Turns out that the top ten Facebook apps, six of them from Zynga, transmit referral URLs to third parties. These referral URLs are tiny parts of the URLs that tell the landing page where the link was clicked. Rapleaf (ironically, since it is also involved as one of the third parties) has a pretty good and detailed blog post about this here.

So, some Facebook user caught wind of this and slapped a class action lawsuit on Zynga:-

This appears to be another example of an online company failing the American public with empty promises to respect individual privacy rights. Companies large and small need to learn to follow through on their privacy promises or risk having consumers decide that it is simply not worth it to use their services,” added Kassra Nassiri of Nassiri & Jung LLP, co-lead attorney for the lawsuit.

So, who did not see this one coming?

Windows 7 SP1 pre-RC Build Leaked?

Leaked Microsoft software is nothing new. Both Windows 7 and Office 2010 kept getting leaked during their development stages. Now, Softpedia is reporting that an internal Windows 7 Service Pack 1 build has been leaked. Although some websites are claiming that this is the release candidate (RC), the leaked file is most likely a pre-RC build.

The leaked image is a chinese Windows 7 (32 bit) installation, which has been slipstreamed with SP1. The build number is 6.1.7601.17104. According to reports, the leaked build is time bombed to 01.09.2011. In other words, the leaked build will stop working in September 2011. This indicates that the leaked build is at least a month old.

Installing leaked builds is never recommended. Not only are they likely to be unstable and rough around the edges, but there is also the possibility that they have been tampered by the releaser. However, if you are dying to get your hands on the latest and greatest from Microsoft, then you should be able to locate the leaked release with a simple Google search.

HTC Lexikon Pictures Emerge

The folks over at BGR have managed to get their hands on a bunch of photos of the next Droid from Verizon the HTC Merge/Lexikon. From the pictures, this Droid from HTC looks similar to the Motorola Droid 2. The full slide-out QWERTY keyboard on the device looks very impressive as well. HTC Lexikon The handset will be powered by a Qualcomm MSM7630CPU and will sport a 4-inch screen. The phone will also sport a 5MP camera at its back along with a microSD card slot.

The device will be running on Android 2.2 with the newer version of HTC Sense UI on top of it. However, Verizon is seriously going to cripple this new Droid by removing all the Google applications usually found in an Android phone with Bing suite of applications.

BIG thumbs down to Verizon for this! I seriously don’t know why Verizon is replacing the Google suite of applications from a phone running on Google’s own OS with Microsoft’s services. LAME!

HTC Desire HD Benchmarked; ROM Leaked As Well

It was just a few days ago that HTC had announced the worldwide version of the Evo 4G the HTC Desire HD. The Desire HD is powered by a Qualcomm 8255 1GHz Snapdragon processor and Adreno 205 GPU. HTC DesireHD Benchmark The Qualcomm 8255 Snapdragon processor is manufactured on a lower fabrication processor (45nm) compared to the 1 GHz QSD8250 Qualcomm Snapdragon processor found in all other phones nowadays. The Adreno 205 GPU also offers a much better performance than its predecessor.

The folks over at managed to benchmark a Desire HD and the device beats the crap out of all other handsets out there except for the Galaxy S series from Samsung. The Desire HD scored a whopping 1974 points in Quadrant benchmark, which is roughly 30% more than a Nexus One running Android 2.2. Only the Samsung Galaxy S handsets are capable of scoring ~1900 points in the Quadrant benchmark with a lagfix applied.

Also the folks over at XDA-Developers have managed to get their hands on the RUU of the Desire HD and they have already ripped it apart. They have even started porting the Desire HD ROM to the HTC HD2.

Halo Reach: Pirated Before Release

Poor, poor Microsoft. It seems that their line of Halo shooters is jinxed when it comes to pre-release piracy. Halo 2 was leaked, and so was Halo 3, with Microsoft issuing a 7,992 year ban on Xbox Live users who were caught playing the leaked version. Now, it’s Halo: Reach’s turn.

Though scheduled to be released on the 14th of September, this year, Halo: Reach wormed its way into the Xbox marketplace with a price-tag of a 9,999 Microsoft Points (or the princely sum of $1,250). Apparently this was the review distributable that could be unlocked by redeeming a special code in the marketplace.

And the hackers over at managed to get a ton of codes for their members.

The direct quote from the staff of GameTuts goes:-

As some of you guys know, Joakim posted a thread regarding ” I have reach ” and showed a few screenshots.
The thread, words, and work is all true.
The legend series of ‘Halo’ was ending with a bang, a bang of that will leave the re-playability high, keeping Firefight blazing.
We now pronounce this to you. The team of Game-Tuts have acquired Reach. This isn’t just a bunch of files thrown together and slapped into the JTAG External Memory.
Think of it this way, “Xport”, only if we can manage it correctly since a PIRS file of 6.87gb is a “god package” – quote from Cthulhu.
We are still working on this and more information is to come. The only thing I can say is that retails might have the ability to play Reach on the files information. PIRS files are signed by Microsoft and given the ability to be played on a retail.
The game “Halo : Reach”, as if all goes well, will be shown on a LIVE stream[Offline] via our channels, I believe we will have more than 1 stream. Expect a full blown amazement of a glorious game that we all have been waiting for in 2010.

So… any takers for this pretty petite pirated program?
