Pandora and WordPress Updated for iOS 4

was released today and there are couple of exciting app updates available which make use of multitasking and task switching in iOS4.

Pandora and WordPress iOS 4 update

The first update came for Pandora which added multitasking support allowing users to listen to music in the background while they worked with other apps on the foreground. However, the multitasking on Pandora will only work on supported devices, which include 3GS and certain iPod Touch devices. However, you can jailbreak iPhone to activate multitasking and wallpaper support on earlier versions.

You can download the Pandora app from iTunes here, or use the App store to update to the latest version of Pandora.

Another major app which got an update for iOS4 support is WordPress, the new WordPress 2.5 includes support for fast app switching and also for the retina display. Other major enhancements include bug fixes and performance enhancements. You can read more about WordPress 2.5 for iPhone here or download it from here.

Facebook Application For iPod Touch/iPhone Updated

The Facebook application for the iPhone/iPod Touch just got updated. The Facebook application is one of the most popular applications for the iPhone/iPod Touch in the Apple App Store.clip_image001 The updated Facebook application is numbered version 3.1.3. The new version fixes many bugs, as well as adds new features.

The new features of the application include :

* Users can now view videos posted by their friends on Facebook.

* Ability to view and write on walls of events.

* The width of the uploaded photos has now been increased to 720 pixels.

The bugs fix list includes :

* Fixed the bug in which the birthday view showed months in the wrong order.

* Removed the bug where users could not upload pictures smaller than a certain size.

* Fixed the broken photo album link in the News Feed.

What I would really like to see is a Facebook application for the iPad. Even though I can open Facebook from Safari on my iPad, I cannot comment on others status update because the commentbutton is missing. I guess this is due to some incompatibility. Hopefully, Facebook will solve this matter soon or release an iPad version of the Facebook application.

512 MB RAM for Apple iPhone 4

It has been just confirmed by Apple, as reported by MacRumors, that the iPhone 4 showcasing the brand new IOS 4 comes with 512 MB RAM. This boost in memory is sure to give a notable performance jump to the iPhone 4. The earlier iPhones iPhone 3G had 128 MB and iPhone 3GS had 256 MB RAM respectively.

The higher amount of RAM will be particularly useful as Apple finally brings multitasking to its IOS 4. This multitasking feature has been present in Blackberry and Android for quite some time now. This is also the reason why the older iPhones will not get multitasking they simply do not have enough RAM to support it.

Apple unlike other manufacturers have not yet released a spec-sheet of the exact hardware for the iPhone 4. They are laying greater emphasis on the applications and features of the phone rather than the hardware.

The increased amount of RAM is not the only new feature for iPhone to boost. It also comes with a gaming social network called Game Centre where players can meet and greet, show off achievements and make friends. The iPhone is slated to come with a 5.0 MP camera. This will enable it to shoot 720p HD videos and even edit them with the iMovie app.

The iPhone 4 sporting the beautiful IOS 4 is surely the product to look forward to and like all Apple products, it has the potential to be a definite trend setter.

iPad and iPhone Audio/Video Converter, Transfer and Backup Software

Recently I got myself a 16GB (Non-3G version) to fulfill my high internet and multimedia usage. The device has been downright impressive, but the only problem for me until now has been to find a good video converter software.

iPad Video Transfer

iTunes does what it is intended to do, but can only supports a limited number of video formats. This basically ruled out transferring videos to iPad, whose format iTunes did not support.

While searching for a good video converter, I bumped across ImTOO iPad Mate. The software does everything I was looking for, plus offers some extra novelties as well. The video converter of the software works as it is supposed to do. It supports all the major video formats right out of the box. ImTOO iPad Mate not only supports iPad, but also iPhone and iPod Touch, and the various other generations of the iPod).

Users can connect and manage two or more iPad/iTouch devices simultaneously via the ImTOO iPad Mate. The software can also rip videos from a DVD and convert and transfer them to your iPad/iTouch. The software also allows users to convert ISO files to iPad-supported format.

The time taken to convert videos will significantly vary depending on your system’s configuration, the settings you convert the movies, and ultimately the size of the movie itself. I managed to convert a 1.98GB Mkv format video file to iPad format (1280*720) in just under an hour on my 3.4GHz Core 2 Duo PC.

ImTOO iPad Mate also allows users to delete specific songs, pictures and videos from their iPad and other iDevices. Along with this, users can also transfer videos, pictures and music from their iPad/iTouch to their PC. This feature of the ImTOO iPad Mate makes your a iPad a media library backup device. The software also allows users to modify ID3 information of the songs already present on your iPad/iTouch.

The only problem, which I faced with the software, was that it required a proper working internet connection while transferring files to iPad, and few other selected iTouch devices. It remains a mystery to me why the software needs a proper working internet connectivity for transferring files to my iPad.

You can learn more about the features and supported videos and more at the ImToo site.

Techie Buzz Verdict

The ImTOO iPad Mate is a must have software for every iPad owner. Heck, every iTouch owner should own it. The software combines the features of multiple software into one and offers them in a nice slick package.

ImTOO iPad mate is available for both Windows and Mac OS X. At 59.95$, the price of the software is a bit on the steep side though but it worth what you will spend. You can also download a free version of the software and use it before you purchase the software.

Techie Buzz Rating: 3.5/5

Access Flash Websites on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

Steve jobs is not relenting to entertain Flash on the or , he even went to the extent of saying that he had no issues with Adobe, but would not allow Flash on the iPad and iPhone.

Flash on iPhone and iPad

However, with software and hardware there will always be a workaround to things, and the same can be said about accessing Flash on an iPhone or iPad. Cloud Browse is an iPhone app which allows users to browse and access flash-enabled websites on the iPhone and iPod touch.

However, Cloud Browse does not display Flash on the iPhone or iPad directly, when you browse to a website which has flash content, Cloud Browse will process the flash content on its own servers and then display it on your device.

The flash content displayed by Cloud Browse is not as fast as the original flash objects, however, you can at-least access Flash on your device.

Watch a video of Cloud Browse in action on an iPad below.

You can download Cloud Browse for free using this iTunes link.

Firefox Home: Coming Soon on iPhone

Firefox home is a browsing session syncing application for the iPhone OS. This app is based on Firefox Sync and allows access to the last browsing history, bookmarks and the set of tabs. This serves as an excellent session manager for web browsing and the fact that it is available anywhere makes you feel at home, so the name.

The Firefox Home app provides encrypted protection and gives us an on the fly browsing experience where we can simply catch up from the last time and place we left browsing. Even better, this app is completely free of charge and provides many awesome features of Firefox add-ons on the iPhone, where we cannot actually have Firefox, thanks for Apple.

Ragavan writes at Mozilla blog saying,

Firefox Home for iPhone is part of a broader Mozilla effort to provide a more personal Web experience with more user control. For devices or platforms where we’re unable to provide the fullFirefox browser (either technically or due to policy), we aim to provide users with on the goinstant access to their personal Firefox history, bookmarks and open tabs on their iPhones, giving them another reason to keep loving Firefox on their desktops.

The project is still under development and will soon be  submitted to the iPhone app store.

Follow the project at its official Mozilla page here.

Apple Classifies Opera Mini As Porn App on iPhone

Not sure how to take this, but Apple just marked Mini as an age-restricted over 17 material on the . As you can see from the screenshot below, the latest update to Opera Mini was flagged as restricted while i was upgrading the browser to the latest version.

iPhone Opera Mini Porn

Now I am not really sure what Opera has that is age-restricted, but it definitely made me smile thinking of all the possibilities on why this could have happened.

Are you seeing the same message while upgrading Opera Mini to the latest version on your iPhone or iPod Touch?
