Vodafone and Orange both announced in a press release today that they will be offering iPhone 3G/3GS in the UK. This means that the UK iPhone market is now free-for-all as consumers who decide to buy an iPhone can either buy it from O2, or in the future from Vodafone or Orange. O2 was the exclusive seller of iPhone in the UK till now, but after both the Operators (Vodafone and Orange) struck a deal with Apple, O2 will no longer be the exclusive seller of iPhone in the future.
Vodafone and Orange are both expected to start selling iPhone 3G/3GS in the UK market from early next year. There is no word on the pricing yet.
Proving false the conspiracy theory of already much delayed iPhone 3G S launch in India, it’s all set to launch. Yes you heard it right, Apple is about to launch iPhone 3G S in India this September. Hopefully now, Airtel and Vodafone won’t be the cause of more delay.
It’s annoying that Apple neglected the fastest growing mobile market in the world. But nevertheless, iPhone3G S is being launched on 19th of September.
Though it comes with a bit ridiculous price tag. The 16gb iphone 3G S might cost 36k and the 32 gb model might be 40k. More than that, the old iPhone 16GB might be discontinued. So will iPhone 3G S will burn your pocket with its high price? Would you buy it?
Are you fed up by just hearing news about applications of iPhone??? Now here is a news that will drop your jaw down to the floor. Apple iPhone 3GS is capable of 1080p HD video playback. Now what you have to say about that?? iPhone 3GS is really now the next generation phone. Though Apple officially didn’t announce it till now but it has been checked by officials of engadget in China. 10 Mbps bitrate 1080p video played fine but 20 Mbps and 30 Mbps were stuttering. As it is not officially announced by Apple so bugs are expected with it now. One of the bugs is with the audio decoder. The hardware is capable of handling the 1080p video playback, so now just the update from Apple is awaited and then iPhone 3GS will be the only phone in the world to play 1080p HD video. However, will the iPhone 3GS can output it after decoding is not clear because there are no HDMI cables for iPhone. The iPhone 3GS already is the fastest iPhone till now and now the 1080p HD video playback is making it difficult for not to buy.
Apple quietly plans to launch iPhone 3GS 8GB. From the screenshots shared by Boy Genius , this seems to be legit.
Although its an unconfirmed news, I guess iPhone 3GS 8GB will be priced at $99. As of now, iPhone 8GB is priced at $99, so its a possibility that Apple wants to replace iPhone 8GB with iPhone 3GS 8GB.
When most of the companies are coming up with minimum 16GB models, I don’t see why 8GB still interests Apple. Also, most of the updates from Apple takes up huge space on the phone. Is the 8GB going to satisfy the needs? I highly doubt. But its a better option for people who can’t afford 16GB/32GB iPhone.
Will you buy iPhone 3GS 8GB for $99?
Apple recently at their World Wide Developer Conference 09′ launched a new iPhone the iPhone 3G S. The iPhone 3G S is no different from iPhone 3G from outside, its the inside which differ. The iPhone 3G S comes with a 600Mhz Processor and 256MB RAM which is double of what the iPhone 3G had. All these hardware changes made the latest version of iPhone very fast compared to its predecessor but with many Apple products recently, even the iPhone 3G S has been facing overheating Issues. Many people have been reporting that their iPhone 3G S becomes extremely hot when used heavily and some people who owned the white iPhone 3G S even said that their back white casing had turned pink/brown due to overheating. Soon after, most of the online forums were buzzing with the iPhone 3G S overheating issues.
Apple kept mum on this matter until today. Today Apple said that Sunlight is to be blamed for the iPhone 3G S getting overheated. Apple says that “”leaving it in direct sunlight for extended amounts of time” can lead to the iPhone overheating and not functioning properly. Apple says -If the interior temperature of the device exceeds normal operating temperatures, you may experience the following as it attempts to regulate its temperature:
The device stops charging
Weak cellular signal
Temperature warning screen appears with the message “iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it”.
You can read more of Apple’s disgusting excuse regarding the iPhone 3G S overheating here. All the products which Apple has been launching recently have been facing a lot of problems. First the SATA Speed being limited in newer Mac Book Pro’s, then the Display issues and now this. Its high time Apple changes the tagline It Just Works which it uses in its advertising.
Who would have thought that iPhone developers would be so fast in coding apps. Apple iPhone developers like Ziconic have already designed a app making use of Digital Compass which is available only on new iPhone, iPhone 3G S.
AirCoaster 3D is an existing application that allows users to design and ride 3D roller coasters on their iPhones and iPod touches. They’ve since posted a video of a prototype version that takes advantage of the iPhone 3GS’s digital compass:
The app is still in testing phase and available in App Store(0.99 cents only)
Squarespace, the website publishing platform, is giving away 30 IPhone 3Gs for a month starting 8th June. Though the contest has already gone live at the time we report, but there are 26 more to go ;)
Squarespace is using the popular platform twitter to promote their contest. Here’s how to win:
To enter the contest, just send out a tweet with the #squarespace hashtag included. We will randomly choose one (1) winner per day who will get their very own, brand spankin new 3GS iPhone!
We’ll be announcing winners on this page and via our Twitter account, @squarespace, so subscribe there to see if you’ve won!
Official rules and details:
- Contest will run from June 8 through July 7.
- You may enter contest as many times as you’d like via Twitter, however, if you are chosen as a prize winner, you are not eligible to win another prize during this giveaway.
- In order to enter, you must send out a tweet from your Twitter account with the #squarespace hashtag included (the rest of the tweet text is up to you, but feel free to be creative!). Each tweet sent with #squarespace included will be considered an entry into that day’s giveaway.
- A winner will be chosen, at random, each day at 5pm EDT and announced via Squarespace’s official Twitter account (www.twitter.com/squarespace or @Squarespace). All tweets sent after 5pm EST, will be considered an entry in the following day’s giveaway.
- Winning prize will include a $199 gift certificate to the Apple store, which may be used toward the purchase of an 8GB iPhone, or toward any other official Apple products or services. This is currently the price listed by Apple of the most expensive new iPhone, and we were advised by Apple that this is the best way to conduct the giveaway.
- Should the daily winner choose to purchase an iPhone with their gift certificate, he/she will be responsible for establishing and paying for their own cellular/data network plan through AT&T (or whichever provider supports the iPhone in your country).
No purchase is necessary to enter (i.e. you do not need to be an existing Squarespace customer in order to be eligible to win the daily prize).
- Once contacted, winners will be responsible for providing Squarespace with a mailing address. Gift certificates will be mailed out within 31 days.
If you look at the 5th point, it vaguely gives away the info that Squarespace is not really giving away IPhone 3Gs but just $199 Apple gift coupons, which can be used to buy IPhone 3Gs. So you will have to signup for AT&T service, which in return might cost you the IPhone 3Gs a big fat $699.
