Orange Launches The Intel Medfield Powered San Diego Smartphone

Orange finally launched the much-awaited San Diego smartphone. It is the world’s second smartphone, which runs on the Intel Medfield processor. This handset was announced and showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 in Barcelona. It was earlier known as the Santa Clara smartphone. San Diego will be exclusively available for the Orange subscribers in the UK. This handset will ship with the old Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System. However, it will get the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update in the coming months.

The Orange San Diego features a 4 inch touchscreen display, sporting a resolution of 600 x 1024 pixel, 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2460 processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS (upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS), Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS support, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G Connectivity, HDMI, Micro USB and much more.

It also comes with a 3.5 mm headset jack, 8 megapixel rear facing camera, full HD (1080p) video recording and playback, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls, 16 GB internal memory, NFC (Near Field Communication), Google Play Store and 14 days of stand-by time. This handset measures 123 x 63 x 9.99mm and weighs 117 g.

Orange San Diego will be available for £199.99 on Orange Pay As You Go. Orange subscribers will also get 250 MB of free mobile data per month for 12 months. This handset will go on sale from 6th June at Orange shops, Orange telesales and Orange online store.

Orange UK To Launch Intel Medfield Powered Santa Clara On May 31

Back in February, Intel and Orange announced the new Santa Clara smartphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 in Barcelona. The Lava Xolo X900 was the first smartphone which runs on the Intel Medfield processor, while Santa Clara is the second smartphone to sport the same processor. Earlier it was rumored that Santa Clara is just the codename of the device and the real name will be revealed during the launch. However, it seems that Orange will go ahead with the same name.

The Lava Xolo X900 is already available for purchase from the last 2 months. Now, Orange will launch the much-awaited Santa Clara at an event in the UK on May 31. The company has already started sending out the press invites. This handset will be exclusively available to the Orange subscribers in the UK and France.

Lava Releases World’s First Intel Medfield Powered Android Smartphone

Indian mobile manufacturer Lava has launched the world’s first Intel powered Android smartphone – XOLO X900. Lava XOLO X900, which was first spotted in this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), is powered by an Intel Atom (Medfield) processor. Lava claims that the 1.6 GHz Atom with Hyper Threading will offer an “an unbelievably responsive” experience.

As far as features are concerned, the XOLO has all the features a flagship deserves. Its 8 mega-pixel rear cam is capable of shooting 1080p videos and snapping up to ten images per second in burst mode, while the 1.3 MP front camera is good enough for video calling. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, 3G, HSPA+, NFC, and Bluetooth. The handset measures in at 123 x 63 x 10.99 mm, and features a 4.03″ TFT LCD touchscreen (capacitive) with Gorilla Glass. A 400 MHz GPU is also present to take care of heavy duty graphics processing. The 1460 mAh battery is expected to offer 8 hours of talk time, and last 5 hours of 3G browsing. Sixteen gigs of internal strorage, and 1 GB of RAM is also included.

The X900 ships with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread); however, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is expected to become available soon as an OTA (over the air) upgrade. Lava has partnered with Chroma to promote and distribute the phone across India. The retail price is Rs. 22,000 ($422 approx.). Intel has reportedly signed up several manufacturers including Motorola, ZTE, and Orange for Medfield powered smartphones; however, Lenovo K800 is the only other handset that has been announced so far. The K800 is expected to launch next month.

Yes, we are talking about the rumored Orange Santa Clara. Intel and Orange recently announced the new Santa Clara smartphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 in Barcelona.

The Orange Santa Clara is basically a codename of this device. The commercial name of this smartphone will be unveiled during the launch. This handset will be exclusively available to the Orange subscribers in the UK and France. The Orange Santa Clara will feature a number of locally-relevant and unique services including Orange TV, Dailymotion, Deezer, Orange Wednesdays, Your Orange and Orange Gestures.

Intel And Lava Unveils The Intel Medfield Powered Lava XOLO X900

We already knew that Lava was planning to launch the Intel Medfield powered smartphone. Today, Intel and Lava finally announced the rumored Intel Medfield powered Lava XOLO X900 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 in Barcelona. This handset will be first launched in India. The Lava XOLO X900 runs on the old Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System. However, we are not sure if the device will get the Android 4.0 update in the near future.

Earlier, it was rumored that the Lava’s Medfield powered handset will feature a 3.5 inch display, However, the Lava XOLO X900 comes with a large 4.03 inch LCD touchscreen display. It also features a 1.6GHz Atom Z2460 processor, 8 megapixel rear camera, HD (720p) video recording and playback, front-facing camera for video calls, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G Connectivity, NFC (Near Field Communication), HDMI, and much more.
