Last month, Nokia unveiled the entry-level Lumia 520 and mid-range Lumia 720 smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 in Barcelona. These devices are powered by the Windows Phone 8 Operating System. Nokia India’s official store as well as Flipkart has already started accepting the pre-orders of the Lumia 520. It is touted to be the cheapest Windows Phone 8 smartphone.

Google Brings Play Movies To India And Mexico

Over the last few months, Google has been slowly bringing most of its features to India and other third world countries. This includes free turn-by-turn voice navigation, the ability to publish paid apps in the Play Store for Indian developers, INR currency support, and much more recently, the release of Play Books and directly selling the Nexus 7 via the Play Store in India.

Today, Google has released another of its Play services for its Indian users to enjoy – Play Movies. Google has priced the movies at a pretty decent price, with the prices varying from Rs. 50 to Rs 120 to rent a standard definition movie. Users can directly purchase a movie as well with prices beginning from Rs 390 for a SD quality movie to a whopping Rs. 650 for a one in HD.

Android users can access the Play Movies service right from the Play Store application on their phone or tablet. You can also purchase or rent movies directly from the Play Store website.

In addition to Play Movies, Google has also enabled the option to buy paid movies from YouTube Rentals. Until now, users were only given the a catalogue of free movies, but from today, the catalogue has increased to include paid movies as well.

Along with India, Google has also brought its Play Movies service to its users in Mexico. Hopefully, Google will soon bring its Play Music and other Nexus hardware to the Indian Play Store sooner than later.

Sony Xperia E Goes On Sale In India For Rs.9,999

Last year, Sony unveiled the entry-level Xperia E smartphone. This handset is specially targeted for those who are planning to jump from feature phones to smartphones. Airtel Launches 40Mbps Broadband Services In Hyderabad

Bharti Airtel finally launched its 40 Mbps broadband services in Hyderabad, India. Bharti Airtel is the first operator in the city to launch broadband services on VDSL (Very-high-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line) technology. VDSL is said to be the newest and most advanced standard of Broadband wireline communications. Airtel is currently offering two plans for its subscribers who wish to experience the 40 Mbps high-speed internet.

The first plan is called as “Ultrasonic 3299″ and it offers 100 GB of data usage as well as 1000 free voice minutes. It comes with a monthly price of Rs.3299. The second plan is called as “Ultrasonic 3999″ and it offers 200 GB of data usage along with 2000 free voice minutes. The Ultrasonic 3999 plan is available for a monthly price of Rs.3999.

Both the plans offers a speed of 40 Mpbs and the speed will be reduced to just 512 kbps as soon as you reach the monthly limit. Airtel also offers additional free Value Added Services (VAS) like Parallel Ringing, PC Secure (Anti-Virus software), Unlimited Gaming through Games on Demand, LearnNext and much more. To use these services, Airtel subscribers will need to purchase the Beetel’s VDSL Wi-Fi modem priced at Rs 3,099.

Google Nexus 7 Goes On Sale in India Via Play Store For Rs.15,999

Google Nexus 7 needs no introduction! It is Google’s first tablet device which was unveiled last year at the company’s I/O event in San Francisco. Samsung Galaxy S II Plus Goes On Sale In India For Rs.22,900

Back in January, Samsung announced the Galaxy S II Plus smartphone. This handset packs almost same specs from the original Galaxy S II, except the fact that this device will be shipped with the newer Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System and Samsung’s latest Touchwiz Nature UX out-of-the-box. XOLO X1000 Launches In India, 2GHz Intel CPU For $369

XOLO has launched the Intel-powered X1000 in India for approximately $369. This low-priced smartphone features very high-end specs with a 2GHz Intel Atom processor and 1GB of RAM. In terms of display, the XOLO X1000 will offer 4.7-inches of 720p screen real-estate with a pixel-density of 312 pixels-per-inch. In terms of a camera, the smartphone offer will a 5 mega-pixel rear-facing camera with burst mode. Out of the box, the X1000 will offer 8GB of internal storage but can be upgraded to 32GB using MicroSD cards. The phone will feature HSPA+ 3G technology.

The only disappointing part about the X1000 is the fact that it’s only running Android 4.0.4, otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich. As of now, we’re not sure how close the phone is to being upgraded to Android Jelly Bean, but for such a new device, we’re hoping that the update arrives soon.

Samsung Announces The Galaxy Note 510 (Note 8.0) In India

Today, Samsung announced the new Samsung Galaxy Note 510 at the Samsung Forum event in Hyderabad. Don’t get confused with the name of this device. Galaxy Note 510 is nothing but the same Galaxy Note 8.0 which was unveiled earlier this week at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 in Barcelona. Samsung India has a long history of launching Android tablets in India with different names. Last year, the Galaxy Note 10.1 was introduced as Galaxy Note 800 in the Indian market.

As the name suggests, Galaxy Note (510) 8.0 comes with an 8 inch display and the innovative S-Pen. This device runs on the Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. There are no major changes in the Indian variant of the Galaxy Note 8.0. Samsung has also pre-loaded the upgraded ChatOn, Awesome Note, Flipboard and Smart Remote on this device.

LG launches Optimus G in India

LG Electronics has finally launched LG Optimus G smartphone in India. Running on Android v4.1.2 Jelly bean, LG has extended the OS with its own Optimus 3.0 UI for an optimum mobile experience.LG Optimus G

The phone, that LG claims to be designed to a flagship standard, boasts of a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus Display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5 GHz Quad-core processor. Optimus G has an aspect ratio of 15:9 with a 320ppi high pixel density and is equipped with Zerogap Touch display technology that brings visuals closer to the surface of the screen and gives a more immersive experience. The phone has a unique glass-made back graced with a crystal pattern. This patented Crystal Reflection is glossy and displays different patterns and colors depending on the angle and lighting.

Optimus G’s 13MP rear-end camera and 1.3MP front facing camera come with a number of apps like SmartShutter senses movement and automatically adjusts shutter speed to capture crisp, blur-free images and CheeseShutter that has voice recognition capabilities and automatically clicks a picture when one says ‘Cheese’.
