Idea Launches 3G Services In Maharashtra, Goa, UP And Kerala

After Tata Docomo, Reliance Communication, Aircel and Airtel launched their 3G services in India, Idea recently joined the bandwagon and launched its 3G services in India. In the first phase, Idea launched 3G in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh circle. Within a week, Idea 3G has been launched in Maharashtra, Goa, UP (East), UP (West) And Kerala circle.

Idea 3G services are currently live in Pune, Nasik, Nagpur, Agra, Meerut, Dehradun, Muzzafarnagar, Saharanpur, Roorkee, Rudrapur, Kashipur and Haridwar of Maharashtra circle. It is also available in Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad,Jhansi, Sitapur and Azamgarh in the UP (East) circle.

Idea 3G services have been launched in 30 cities of Kerala – Achanambalam, Adat, Adoor, Adoorengg-colg, Alimukku, Alleppey Town, Aluva, Amabalamughal, Ariyallur, Aroor, Athavanad, Avinsserry, Ayanikad, Beypore Bhavans Hill, Bmnagar, C K Para, Calicut Town, Cochin, Fort Kochi, Carborandum, Chaliyam, Chattiparamba,Kottackal, Vengara, Chelambra, Chelari, Payyoli, Quilandy, Feroke, Beypore, Malappuram ,Kottackal, Kottarakara, Punalur, Vengara, Parappanangadi, Thrissur and Chemmadnow.

Idea has grabbed 3G license for 11 circles Maharashtra & Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (E), Uttar Pradesh (W), Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Idea already said that the company is planning to grow at the rate of 10 towns per day. Idea will cover 750 towns by mid 2011 and 4,000 towns by the end of FY12.

LG Launches the Optimus 2X and Optimus Black in India

Today, LG announced the launch of the LG Optimus 2X and the LG Optimus Black in India. The LG Optimus 2X is priced at Rs 30,000 while the Optimus Black will be be priced a tad lower at Rs 27,000.

The LG Optimus 2X is the first dual core smartphone which is powered by Android 2.2 Froyo. It will be upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread soon, and comes with a 1 GHz dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and 512 MB RAM. It has a 4 inch capacitive touchscreen display and comes with an 8 MP camera and 8 GB internal storage.

The LG Optimus Black is the first phone with a Nova display which comes with Android 2.2 Froyo as well. It is also supposed to receive an upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will come with a 5 MP camera, a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM. It has 2 GB internal storage and a 4 inch Nova display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

Both the Optimus 2X and the Optimus Black will be available soon.

HTC Desire HD Officially Launched In India For Rs.26,990

HCL Launches 3 New “Me” Android Tablets in India

HCL has launched three new Android tablets in India. The “Me” Android tablets are priced in the range of INR 14,990 to INR 32,990.

The HCL Me AE7-A1 is the cheapest of the three. It has a 7 inch resistive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800x 480 pixels. It comes with Android 2.2 Froyo.

It has an 800 MHz processor and comes with 256 MB RAM. It has 2 GB internal storage and supports microSD cards. It offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.0, and has a 0.3 MP camera. It also has a built in GPS receiver. It is powered by a 2400 mAh battery.

Though it is priced well, the specifications are not at all impressive.

HCL Me AM7-A1HCL Me AM7-A1 Specifications

The HCL Me AM7-A1 is the best one of the three. It is priced very close to the Galaxy Tab though, at INR 22,990. It has a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It has an 800 MHz Cortex A8 processor and 512 MB RAM. It has 8 GB internal storage with support for microSD cards.

It has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and comes with Bluetooth 2.1 and 3G. It also has GPS with A-GPS support and comes with a 1.3 MP camera. It comes with Android 2.2 Froyo too and supports full HD (1080p) video playback. It has a 4200 mAh battery.

HCL Me AP10-A1HCL Me AP10-A1 Specifications

The HCL Me AP10-A1 is the biggest and the most expensive of the lot. It has a 10 inch capacitive touchscreen and comes with a 1 GHz Cortex A9 processor and 1 GB RAM. It has 16 GB internal storage and supports microSD cards.

It comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and comes with Bluetooth 2.1 and 3G. It also has GPS with A-GPS as well as a 1.3 MP camera. It also support 1080p video playback and comes with a 3650 mAh battery. It also runs Android 2.2 Froyo and is priced at INR 32,990.

Idea 3G Tariff Plans

After waiting for months, Idea finally launched its 3G services in India. In the first phase, Idea 3G will be available only in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh circle. Idea 3G services will be available in 200 towns by mid-April 11. To activate 3G services on your 3G enabled smartphone, Idea subscribers will need to dial *147# or you can even SMS ACT3G to 12345.

Within few minutes, your 2G data plan will be de-activated and you will be shifted to the 3G Pay As You Godata plan. Idea offers 4 types of data plans – Sachet based, Time based, Usage based and Data rate cutter. Almost, all the telecom operators have provided free trial of their 3G services, but sadly, Idea does not provide any free data for trial. Check out the Idea’s 3G tariff plans below.

Idea Finally Launches 3G Services In India

All the major telecom operators have already started their 3G services in India. Last year, Tata Docomo and Reliance communications launched their 3G followed by Airtel, Aircel and Vodafone in the Q1 of 2011. Idea subscribers were eagerly waiting for the launch of 3G from last few months. And today, Idea finally launched its 3G services in India. Idea 3G signals are currently live only in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh circle.

Speaking about the 3G network rollout, Mr. Ambrish Jain, Director Operations, Idea Cellular, said: “Beginning with MP, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and HP, Idea’s 3G services will expand in a progressive manner to provide expansive coverage across 4,000 towns by year end. Idea will target areas of industrial and commercial activity, centres of learning, and high potential rural hinterlands where broadband is yet to make a breakthrough. Idea has set up the most extensive customer service network to educate customers on 3G and support their requirements, across the country.”

Idea has also unveiled a new 3G logo. Idea has set up ‘Experience Kiosks’ to provide a flavour of the services that customers can opt for. These will be available to all users at select ‘My Idea’ stores. Idea 3G services will be available in 200 towns by mid-April 11. Idea is planning to grow at the rate of 10 towns per day. Idea will coverr 750 towns by mid 2011 and 4,000 towns by the end of FY12.

Idea Cellular had won 3G license for 11 circles Maharashtra & Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (E), Uttar Pradesh (W), Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Idea has also selected Nokia Siemens as their 3G partners.

Vodafone Launches 3G Services In Uttar Pradesh

Vodafone finally launched their 3G services in India. The Vodafone 3G will be first available for customers in the Uttar Pradesh circle. Tata Docomo and Reliance Communication already launched 3G last year. Later, Aircel and Airtel joined the bandwagon and launched their 3G earlier this year. Vodafone 3G services will be first launched in the cities of Lucknow and Kanpur in the first phase, followed by Allahabad and Varanasi in the next month and later it will be available in remaining towns of the Uttar Pradesh circle.

“Vodafone is the largest operator in UP (E) with about 13 million subscribers. The company is offering its subscribers free 3G services till April 10 and the 3G tariff and packages for it would be announced later. We have the largest EDGE enabled cell sites in the circle numbering 8,200 and we only need to put 3G antennae and some additional gadgets for 3G. The Vodafone 3G services will give its customers a faster, smarter and better mobile experience with internet access at speeds up to 21.1 Mbps,said Ravi Santhanam,  Vodafone East UP chief operations officer.

Vodafone had grabbed 3G license for 9 circles Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai & Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra & Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (East) and West Bengal. Vodafone is expected to launch 3G services in the remaining circles, by the end of this month. Vodafone selected Nokia Siemens to manage its 3G HSPA network in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, UP(East), Rest of Bengal and Haryana circle. While the company selected Ericsson to provide 3G HSPA services in the remaining circles.

Currently, Vodafone users can access 3G services on 2G rates. It means that you will get 2GB data for just Rs.98. This offer is valid only till April 10th for both prepaid and postpaid customers.
