The folks over at Android Central have managed to get their hands on some leaked pictures of the upcoming Motorola Droid X2 and the HTC Droid Incredible 2.
The Incredible S from HTC will get a minor speed bump and will be powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor and pack 768MB of RAM. The handset will also feature the same curvy back, as its predecessor.
The back of the phone sports an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash. Rumors also suggest that the Incredible 2 will feature wireless charging. Sadly, the handset will launch with Android 2.2.1 on-board. HTC and Verizon are yet to announce a release date for the Incredible 2.
The Droid X2 from Motorola looks similar to its predecessor the Droid X. The handset sports the same 4.3-inch display with a higher qHD resolution. The X2 will be powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chipset and pack 1GB of RAM. The back of the handset will sport an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash. Sadly, there is no video call camera in the front.
While Motorola has retained the mini-HDMI port, the camera shutter key has been dropped from the Droid X2. The phone will launch with Android 2.2.2 with the latest version of MotoBlur running on top of it.
At the moment, it is unknown whether the X2 or the Incredible 2 will support Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Both the phones will be released under Verizon’s Droid brand.
Hopefully, Verizon and Motorola/HTC will announce the phone in the next couple of weeks.

The HTC Droid Incredible is a very popular phone in the US. The phone features a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen with a WVGA resolution. It was a month ago that the Droid Incredible was rooted. The Droid Incredible was comparatively a tough nut to crack than other Android phones. Custom ROMs for the Droid Incredible are scarce as well. The reason behind this is that HTC did not release the source code of the Droid Incredible’s kernel.
However, today HTC released the kernel source code of the Droid Incredible. The kernel source code also contains bits and pieces of Froyo code which should help developers. This will help the developers produce some quality and bug free ROMs for the Incredible. Along with the Droid Incredible, HTC also released the kernel source code of the Desire, Wildfire, Aria and the EVO 4G. Here is the link to download them.
Remember the HTC Droid Incredible software update we told you about? Apparently, the update has been postponed to a future date. The update is now expected to be rolled out by end of July, or early August. The reason for the delay in this software update you ask? Well the change-log of the software update has been edited to add one major update Froyo. Yes, the Droid Incredible is expected to get the Froyo update by early August.
This piece of news has been confirmed by an unofficialVerizon Tech Support. Here is the proof-:
Along with the Incredible getting the Froyo update, the Verizon tech support guy also confirmed that the Motorola Droid will be getting the Froyo update within the same time span. Hopefully, most of the HTC phones and the Motorola Droid X will get the Froyo update by the end of August.
Remember the HTC Droid Incredible upcoming software update we had told you about a couple of weeks ago? Well a few handful of Droid Incredible owners are reporting that they have got the software update notification on their phone. The new OTA software updated is expected to bring 720p HD video recording, and a new boot up animation to the Incredible.
3G hotspot functionality will also be added to the Droid Incredible with this update. It is not yet confirmed whether this OTA software update has been officially released or not. As for now, users should take this news with a pinch of salt. It is also not yet confirmed whether the new software update fixes the security loop-hole via which the Droid Incredible was rooted.
Recently, unrevoked’ released an updated version of their application which allows users to root their Incredible in just a single click. If you are a Droid Incredible owner, and have already got the latest OTA software update on your phone, do drop in a comment.
The HTC Droid Incredible is one of the most popular Android phones in the U.S. The phone is available exclusively on the Verizon network and features an 8MP camera at its back. The Droid Incredible was one of the few Android phones which was still un-rooted, until last month. The problem with the rooting process was that it was pretty complicated and so many people preferred not to try it.
Now the folks behind unrevokedhave released an updated version of their application. The latest version allows users to root the Droid Incredible in just a single click. Keep in mind that there is no confirmation whether this rooting method is still compatible with the Droid Incredible OTA software update which is being rolled out to various users.
Users who have already rooted their handset using unrevoked are advised not to download the software update for now.
It was just last week that the HTC Desire got the Android Froyo update unofficially“. Now it is the U.S only HTC Incredible which has got the Froyo update unofficially. HTC had said that most of their Android phones launched in 2010, will get the Froyo update by the end of 2010.
If you are impatient and cannot wait for such a long time, then users can flash the CyanogenMod 6 on their Incredible. This custom ROM, which supports many devices including HTC Magic, G1 etcetera, brings Froyo to Incredible. However, this custom ROM has stock Froyo which means no HTC Sense UI. A user over at Droid-Life managed to flash this Custom ROM on his Incredible and took some benchmarks of the device. The results were downright impressive!
If you don’t want to lose the Sense UI, then there is a Custom ROM codenamed SkyRider for you. Keep in mind that this ROM is still in beta, but manages to bring Froyo and Sense UI together on the Incredible. This ROM still has a few bugs related to Camera, Wi-Fi etcetera.
It was just a couple of days ago, that HTC had released an Over-The-Air (OTA) software update for the HTC EVO 4G. Now, the company will soon be rolling out another firmware update for the HTC Droid Incredible. Droid-Life has got some leaked information about the upcoming firmware update with pictures and video from some credible source.
The firmware update will bring with it – 720p HD video recording to the Incredible. Along with HD video recording, the update will also bring 3G hotspot feature to the phone. Sadly, there is no specified timeframe when the firmware update will be available. Hopefully, the firmware update will hit the Incredible users sometime within a few weeks.
