HTC Sensation Gets The Android 4.0 Update At Vodafone UK

Earlier this month, HTC already announced their Android 4.0 update plans for smartphones. HTC has also rolled out the Android 4.0 update for the HTC Sensation and Sensation XE owners in Germany and other Nordic countries. However most of the folks living in other countries were still waiting for this update.

Vodafone was the first carrier to sell the powerful HTC Sensation in the UK. Now, Vodafone is the first carrier to roll out the much-awaited Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update for the HTC Sensation in the UK. The latest update comes with some amazing features such as Beats audio, face unlock, advanced voice and text input, improved email, UI improvements and much more.

Vodafone UK sent the following message to the HTC Sensation owners.

Great news. The testing of the ICS update for HTC Sensation is complete, and we plan to start rolling out the update tomorrow.

The update will be rolled out in phases by the Over The Air service, so if yours doesn’t appear right away, you can either wait for it to appear, or go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check now.

This update bumps the HTC Sense to version 3.6. It is advised to backup all you data before updating the device. You should also make sure that your battery is fully charged, before updating the device. If you find something new, please let us know in the comments section below. HTC Sensation owners on Orange and Three UK might have to wait for few days for the Android 4.0 update.

HTC Sensation Gets The Android 2.3.4 Update At Vodafone UK

HTC Sensation is the company’s most powerful smartphone. This handset was released during the Q3 of 2011 for Vodafone customers in the UK. The HTC Sensation originally runs on the Android 2.3.3 Operating System. HTC has already rolled out the Android 2.3.4 update for the unlocked HTC Sensation, but the owners of the locked HTC Sensation were left behind. Last week, T-Mobile USA rolled out the Android 2.3.4 update for this handset, and now, the Big Red carrier has joined the bandwagon.

Vodafone UK has finally started rolling out the much-awaited Android 2.3.4 update for the HTC Sensation smartphones. The latest update changes the software version of the device to 1.45.161.1 and it comes with stability and performance updates. It also reduces the heating problem by optimizing processor load. HTC To Start Shipping Updates To Unlock Bootloaders From August

Listening to feedback from the homebrew and modding community, HTC decided not to lock the bootloaders on their phones. The policy announced by HTC CEO back in May makes it easy for users to tinker with their phones. For all the openness claims of Android, unlocked bootloaders are great news for the community.

In an update issued on their Facebook page, the company said that they will be shipping software updates for the HTC Sensation (worldwide) in August that would enable unlocking the bootloader. The company said, T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G and Sprint EVO 3D will be getting the updates soon as well. According to the statement, devices should be capable of unlocking bootloaders by September and more devices will be supported as maintenance updates are released.

Recently in a statement to Ina Fried of AllThingsD, Bill Cox said that Microsoft is okay with enthusiasts porting Windows Phone 7 Mango to older devices (HTC HD2 in this case). With Windows Phone 7, Microsoft has reached out to the community realizing their importance in growth of the platform.

T-Mobile USA recently announced that, the powerful HTC Sensation 4G will be exclusively available from June 15th. The HTC Sensation 4G is also the first smartphone to feature HTC Watch an application and service that allows you to watch an entire library of the latest, premium movies and TV shows on the go.
