High Initial Demand For HTC J Butterfly In Japan; HTC Boosts Shipments!

HTC has been having a hard time competing with Samsung and Apple in the mobile phone industry. The Taiwanese maker has consistently failed to come up with hero devices and has been diluting its brand by releasing too many devices, even though it promised otherwise.

However, it looks like things are changing for good for the company with the launch of the HTC J Butterfly in Japan. The Butterfly is the first Android smartphone to pack in a whopping 5-inch 1080p display. Other specs of the handset are top-notch as well including a quad-core Snapdragon Krait processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 8MP camera, and LTE.

HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou, commented that the J Butterfly has a huge demand in Japan and that the Taiwanese maker is working on making additional units of the handset available by December end.

“Based on our initial feedback, the phone has become very popular in Japan and we have been endeavoring to boost our shipments” said HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou.

The company also commented on its 2013 line-up of devices and stated that it is aiming to extend the life span of its flagship devices, whilst expanding the companies reach in the budget segment.

While Samsung and Apple will still continue to dominate the mobile industry for the foreseeable future, HTC might just bounce back and start making considerable amount of profit by the end of 2013.
