Earlier this year, HTC announced its first tablet device – the HTC Flyer at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011 in Barcelona. HTC Flyer

Most of the Android tablets launched in this year, runs on the latest Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) Operating System, which is specially designed for tablet device. But, the HTC Flyer runs on the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, which is not optimized for tablet devices. Due to the low sales of this tablet, Best Buy permanently reduced the price of the HTC Flyer from $499.99 to $299.99.

HTC Flyer features a 7 inch touch-sensitive TFT screen with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, 1.5 GHz single core processor, Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread OS (upgradable to Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS), HTC Sense UI, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, 5 megapixel colour camera with auto focus, 1.3 megapixel front camera, 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, Micro-USB, 16 GB internal memory, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G Connectivity, GPS, up to 820 hours stand-by time, up to 4 hours video playback and a 4000 mAh battery.

HTC has already promised that the HTC Flyer will be upgraded to the Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, but we’ve seen nothing yet. The HTC Flyer will now be available for just $299.99 at Best Buy starting from October 1.

HTC Flyer To Get Android Honeycomb “Shortly After Launch”

Back in February, HTC announced the much-awaited HTC Flyer tablet at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011 in Barcelona. HTC Flyer is the company’s first tablet device. Most of the tablets announced this year runs on the latest Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) Operating System, but the HTC Flyer runs on the old Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS. Even though, it is powered by the 1.5 GHz processor, why would anyone go ahead and buy a device with outdated operating system?

To solve this problem, HTC has recently mentioned in a tweet that, the HTC Flyer will get the Android 3.0 Honeycomb update shortly after launch. This is definitely a great news for those, who are planning to buy this device, since they won’t have to wait much longer for the Android Honeycomb update.
