According to Google, Android 3.0 Honeycomb is aimed only at tablets with the future version of Android updates bringing some features of Honeycomb to mobile. However, unofficially the Honeycomb SDK has already been ported to the EVO 4G and some popular Android handsets from HTC. A guy with the username t3haxx0r has ported the Android 3.0 Honeycomb SDK to the EVO 4G.
As of now, the build is quite buggy but at least it will be able to provide users with a sneak peek’ of what the latest version of Android will bring. Nearly nothing on the port works including radios, hardware buttons and the ROM is quite sluggish as well.
Here is a video of Android 3.0 Honeycomb in action on the EVO 4G :
t3haxxor and some other developers are also working on a Honeycomb port for the Droid Incredible as well as for the Desire HD.
Below is a video of the Honeycomb SDK port in action on the Desire HD :
HTC Desire HD owners can download the Honeycomb SDK port for their phone from here, while EVO 4G owners can download the port for their handset from here.
The Droid Incredible is a very popular handset in the U.S and among the modding community. Now, after the Samsung Galaxy S and the original Motorola Droid got its fair share of Android 2.3 Gingerbread love, the Incredible joins the list. In the case of Galaxy S and the Droid, the Gingerbread ROMs were far from usable on a day to day basis.
However, the Droid Incredible Gingerbread ROM has only a few bugs like a non-working GPS and camcorder. All other functions of the phone like camera, web browser and accelerometer work properly.
Here is a video of Android 2.3 running on the Droid Incredible :
HTC Droid Incredible Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Kudos to the modding community for such an awesome work! It will take HTC months before they are able to release the Android 2.3 update for the Incredible i.e. if they plan on releasing an update at all.
Droid Incredible owners can read this thread over at XDA on how to flash the Android 2.3 ROM on their handset.

Many Droid Incredible owners have already started receiving the update late last night. Hopefully, this software update won’t remove root from your Incredible.
At the beginning of this week, we reported that the Desire HD ROM has been ported to the HTC HD2. Now the Desire HD ROM has been ported over to other popular HTC devices which includes the EVO 4G, the Droid Incredible and the GSM version of Desire. Users of these handsets should thank the folks over at XDA-Developers for their hard work. The Desire HD ROM brings with it the new Sense UI, some clever new features and the ultra-fast boot-up time to these devices.
However, there are still some niggles in running this ROM on any of the handset stated above. This ROM makes the camera of all the three devices totally useless – the camera application just refuses to work. Both, Wi-Fi and 4G does not work on the EVO, thus severely limiting its connectivity options. The dialer application also looks a bit weird on all the three Droids.
However, I am pretty sure that with time the above issues will be sorted out and soon owners of the above three handsets will be enjoying all the Desire HD software goodness on their phone.

Droid-Life is reporting that Verizon is going to start rolling out the official Froyo OTA update for the Droid Incredible from tomorrow itself. I will now recommend users to wait for the OTA instead of flashing the leaked Android 2.2 update about which we reported a few minutes ago. Verizon has updated the Droid Incredible support page with full information about the Froyo update as well.
The Froyo update for the Incredible brings with it incredible’ changes like 720p HD recording, 3G Mobile Hotspot, Flash Player 10.1 and a new boot screen. The Froyo update is also expected to improve the battery life of the device. This software update will also install Skype, VZ Navigator and My Verizon applications on your Incredible. The update will also enable the Wi-Fi n capability on the handset.
The folks over at Android Central have published the many screenshots and benchmarks of the Android 2.2 update running on the Droid Incredible. Here is the link to the full change-log of the Android 2.2 update from Verizon itself.
HTC are yet to announce the official release date of the Froyo rollout for the Droid Incredible. Earlier, rumors suggested that the Droid Incredible will get its Froyo love on August 18. However, that did not happen and Incredible owners are still waiting for HTC to announce the Froyo rollout date. Nevertheless, a full Froyo RUU has leaked on the Internet today.
Users who have rooted, as well as non-rooted phones can flash this firmware file. The Android 2.2 Update for the Droid Incredible will bring with it many new changes like 720p HD video recording, Flash Player 10.1, new Boot screen etcetera. Hopefully, Verizon will soon announce the official roll out date of the OTA Froyo update.
Here are the steps to flash this leaked Android 2.2 RUU file on your Droid Incredible.
Apparently, the news of the HTC Droid Incredible getting the Froyo update today was just a rumor. According to @VZWSupport, there is no information available on when the Droid Incredible will be getting the update.
Here is what @VZWSupport told about the Froyo update for the Droid Incredible :
We currently do not have information for the Incredible update at this time and is not being sent out today.
Now, this piece of news is going to break the hearts of a lot of Droid Incredible owners out there. Most of the other popular Android phones from HTC like the Desire, EVO 4G have already got their share of Froyo love.
I wonder why HTC is taking so much time to roll out the Froyo update for the Droid Incredible. Hopefully, the update will be rolled out by early-September to mid-September.
