Find Windows 7 Product Key or CD Key

Recently, one of our readers sent in this question to us that they have lost their CD and cannot find their product key, however they wanted to reinstall their system and could not do it without a product key.

Find Windows 7 Product Key

First of all, Microsoft stores your Product Key or CD Key on your PC itself and it is not easy for a normal user to sift through the files and find it. However, there are software which do this job very well.

Just like our Office 2010 product key finder there is a tool which will allow you can also extract the product key of Windows 7 from your system. To do that, you have to install the Keyfinder tool from Jelly Bean (download link below).

Once you have download the Jelly Bean Keyfinder tool run it and it will display the CD Key to you along with the Product ID of your PC. You can then copy this information and use it to install Windows 7 on another OS.

Please make sure to store the Product/CD Key securely once you have extracted it from your OS. It will always come in handy later. If you have any questions like these, feel free to contact us and ask us about it.

According to the plugin description, there seems to be a problem with the REQUEST_URI variable being set on certain WordPress 3.1 installations.

This plugin ensures the REQUEST_URI variable is set during the initialization of WordPress, allowing permalinks to work correctly.

So if you are facing the permalink and canonical redirects problem with WordPress 3.1 go ahead and install the Permalink Fix & Disable Canonical Redirects Pack.

How to Build Your Own IBM Watson

If you have been following the news keenly, you might know that the IBM-built Watson artificial intelligence supercomputer trounced two of game show Jeopardy!‘s most famous contestants recently. Developed under researcher David Ferrucci, the Watson supercomputer trounced Brad Rutter (winner of the biggest all-time money on the show) and Ken Jennings (record holder for the longest championship streak) in a two-game combined point match. All this is known to you, reader of Techie Buzz. But have you felt the urge to actually make your own supercomputer in your basement, provided you have enough money for the enterprise?

Watson's_avatar

If you did, then you have come to the right place. Tony Pearson, Master Inventor and Senior Managing Consultant for the IBM System Storage product line at the IBM Executive Briefing Center in Tucson Arizona, has written up an easy-to-follow article on how to build your own supercomputer, called the “Watson Jr.. The system incorporates 3 host servers (as opposed to the senior Watson’s 90 servers) and will approximately have 1 terabyte of storage in total. The supercomputer might not be as fancy as the Jeopardy! winning artificial intelligence but it does promise to be a fun summer project if you have enough time and money to invest in (and, of course, a large-enough space to house the computer in).

The basic needs of this computer are as follows:-

  • Three x86 hosts, with the following:
    • 64-bit quad-core processor, either Intel-VT or AMD-V capable,
    • 8GB of DRAM, or larger
    • 300GB of hard disk, or larger
    • CD or DVD Read/Write drive
    • 1GbE Ethernet
  • Computer Monitor, mouse and keyboard
  • Ethernet 1GbE 4-port hub, and appropriate RJ45 cables
  • Surge protector and Power strip
  • Local Console Monitor (LCM) 4-port switch (formerly known as a KVM switch)

I can see your hands itching to get to the meat of it, so do check out the tutorial on IBM’s website before going shopping!

Another Way To Bypass Megavideo Time Limit 72 Minutes

We have written several articles in the past to bypass Megavideo time limit to get over the Megavideo 72 minute restriction. However, it looks like several of those software and tricks do not work any more.

Megavideo 72 minute restriction

I just came across another way to bypass the Megavideo time limit 72 minute restriction which I tested and found to work. The new fix is in the form of Mega Skipper (http://megaskipper.com/) which allows users to watch videos in Megavideo without any time restrictions.

The Mega Skipper trick currently works only in . In order to bypass Megavideo time limit restrictions you will have to first download a , which can be installed from here.

Once the extension is installed, you will see a new icon in the Chrome toolbar, this icon will change color whenever you watch a Megavideo video. To bypass the message, "You have watched 72 minutes of video today" just click on the extension icon to open the video in a new page.

If you do not have Google Chrome installed, you can easily bypass the 72 minute restrictions in Megavideo by going to megaskipper.com and entering the video ID of the Megavideo video.

You can also use a site called http://www.cacaoweb.org/ to bypass this limit. It has a extension which can be used to bypass the megavideo limit when you are watching a video.

I tested this script out and it seemed to work for me without issues so you should be able to bypass the Megavideo time limit without any problems. Do let me know if you find any other solution to skip the Megavideo 72 minute time restrictions.

P.S. You might be bombarded with a few ads on the site, but eventually you are getting to watch the full video without having to go to those restrictions Smile.

How To Find If Website is Penalized By Google

Recently, Google rolled out new algorithm changes to search which would curb out unoriginal content and low quality content from the search engine and degrade their rankings.

Google Penalized Red Card

As such, many users are reporting huge traffic drops for their websites. But are these traffic drops temporary or has Google really penalized your website? What is the best way to find it out? Well, here are some answers to find out whether your website has been penalized by Google or not and how to find it out.

Check Analytics for Statistics

If you use a analytics software like , you should check your stats for the past few days. If your traffic has dropped from what it was since last couple of days and has remained consistent, your website might have been penalized.

However, there could be various other reasons sudden traffic drops so make sure to analyze whether you still rank higher for your best keywords and haven’t lost traffic on them.

Also make sure to check that you are still getting traffic for those keywords for past few days or not. Another thing worth checking is to see whether you have lost traffic from referring sites like and too.

A thorough check of these things should give you a clear idea on whether or not you have been penalized by Google.

Check Google Webmaster Dashboard

Tools provides a good idea about what traffic is coming to your site and which searches are driving traffic to you. Make sure to analyze the data there to see if there have been any sudden drops on your popular keywords.

Google Webmasters provides users with a good way to track search queries through charts so make sure to use those tools to determine whether you have lost traffic or not.

Use Site Search Feature in Google

Google provides users with a good way to search results from a particular site in their index. The site operator should be used to verify whether your content is being indexed by Google or not.

To use site search, head over to Google and search for site:techie-buzz.com (replace the site URL with your own blog URL). If you see a drop in indexed content it would mean that your site is being penalized. You can also use the “search tools” available in the left hand side menu to see whether the recent content from your site has been indexed or not.

Don’t base your judgment on posts which have been written a few hours ago as Google crawling can be slow sometimes, instead check if your past days content has been indexed or not.

Summarizing

Though it is very difficult to find out whether your site has been penalized by Google or not, these things will help you at-least get close to finding that out. Things should be ok if you haven’t seen a traffic drop yet, but you have to also continue writing quality content so that the site is not penalized in future.

Have you seen a traffic drop recently? Did you use any other way to find out if you are penalized or not? Do let me know through your comments.
