Microsoft’s latest and greatest has been hacked to be controlled on Windows 7. Earlier last week a bounty of $2000 was offered for anyone who could hack and release open source drivers for the Kinect. In a video shared with Gizmodo, the Kinect is being controlled on Windows 7.
Adafruti Industries from New York had offered the reward and in an email to CNET, Torrone from Adafruit said, It’s amazing hardware that shouldn’t just be locked up for Xbox 360. Its radar camera’ being able to get video and distance as a sensor input from commodity hardware is huge.
Video of the Kinect being controlled from Windows 7:
Microsoft has been trying to minimize the impact of piracy of their software by introducing new activation technologies. With the introduction of Windows 7, it became compulsory for users to activate their installation. However, hackers have been able to circumnavigate Microsoft lockdowns in the past and continue to do so.
A new software called Windows 7 loader claims to provide a Windows 7 Activation Crack to bypass the Windows Activation Technologies (WAT) which requires users to activate their copies after a trial period.
Though the new Windows Activation Crack is still untested, it claims to be able to crack even Windows 7 Service Pack 1. However, Microsoft still has time to release the SP1 to users and the new WAT might kill the new Windows 7 Activation hacks too.

There have been several ways to watch and access Hulu videos outside US in the past, however, Hulu has been blocking those tools and most of them no longer work. However, now a Reddit user has come up with a way to watch Hulu videos outside US without having to use a proxy server or VPN.
However, accessing Hulu Videos outside US is not pretty straightforward and will require you to perform several tasks. You will also have to use the Firefox browser and install a Firefox add-on.
Access Hulu Videos Outside US for Free
Step 1: Download Firefox (if you don’t have it already) and install the Modify Headers add-on (download here)
Step 2: In Firefox, go to Tools -> Modify Headers and from the drop down box select add and enter “X-Forwarded-For” in the first input box and enter the IP address of any US website and click enter.
Step 3: You will need to block TCP and UDP port 1935 since Hulu Flash client tries to connect to that port. Once you have blocked that port it will fall back to Http. To block TCP and UDP ports on Windows, visit this page.
To UDP and TCP port on a Mac, type this in a terminal window:
sudo ipfw add 0 deny tcp from any to any 1935
sudo ipfw add 0 deny udp from any to any 1935
Linux users will have to do this through the iptables by running the following commands:
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 1935 -j DROP
iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 1935 -j DROP
That’s it, this trick should allow you to watch Hulu videos outside the US at-least for a while till Hulu comes up with a fix for it. Using this trick might block Flash on other websites, so use it only when you want to watch Hulu videos.
Finally some good news for people who upgraded to iPhone OS 3.1.3 or have been pushing it back because there haven’t been any unlocks for baseband 05.11.07.
A new version of Blacksn0w has cropped up on the unofficial app store Cydia which will allow users to unlock iPhone OS 3.1.3 with baseband 05.11.07. The unlock which is a release candidate 2 can be accessed from the Cydia store on jailbroken iPhone’s.
Blacksn0w RC2 has not been released officially by GeoHotz who has been working on a untethered jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 which will be released in near future and may also work on the iPad. This version of Blacksn0w is basically a repackaged version of the original version and adds a few fixes to it.
You will have to jailbreak your iPhone using sn0wbreeze and then use the Cydia store to search for Blacksn0w and then install the unlock on your iPhone for this to work.
No one likes locked phones which restrict your activities to a certain carrier and do not allow you to install apps which are not in the available market place. And with the introduction of HTC HD2 by T-Mobile, which incidentally sold out in the first few hours, there might be several users who might be itching to unlock the phone and play around with it.
If you are looking to unlock the HTC HD2 you recently bought from T-Mobile, XDA Developers has released a HSPL2 which will allow you to flash the HTC HD2 and unlock it.
Once you unlock the device you can install apps or ROMs which are unofficially available. Instructions to download the HSPL2 and flash the HTC HD2 for T-Mobile is available on the XDA Developers site.
Please make sure to backup your device before you flash it. We take no responsibility if you brick your device, so continue with caution.
Important note: Using the HSPL2 on your device will void your warranty, so use it at your own risk.
George Hotz or GeoHotz as he is popularly known has managed to write a software based jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.1.3/3.1.2 which is untethered, aka you will not have to jailbreak your iPhone or iPod Touch if it restarts or the battery runs out.
The Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.1.3 has not been released yet, however, GeoHotz has uploaded a video of the working jailbreak on YouTube (embedded below). Apple had made it pretty hard for iPhone jailbreak developers to create untethered jailbreaks and this news will definitely bring a lot of cheer to people who have been waiting for it.
