A few months back I had written about an interesting web app which allowed users to schedule emails in Gmail. The add-on for browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox worked very well and did its job. However, there is another entrant called "Right Inbox" which provides a similar service but is simpler to use.

While Boomerang for Gmail provides much more than just scheduling emails in Gmail, Right Inbox’s only focus lies on scheduling emails in Gmail. Once you install the Right Inbox extension refresh you Gmail page and you will be guided through grant permissions to the app to your Gmail Inbox.

Once you have granted permissions to the Right Inbox app, you will be able to schedule emails in Gmail with the click of a button. Right Inbox will add an additional button to the compose email workflow (as seen above) allowing you to send the email at a later time.

Clicking on the "Send Later" button will give you several options to schedule the email. You can either click on the options provided or choose to send the email at a specific time. Once you have scheduled your email, the email will be stored in your drafts folder and will be delivered at the time you chose. The best part is that you don’t have to be near your computer once you have scheduled your email and Right Inbox will do the work for you.

Right Inbox is currently available as a Google Chrome extension and Firefox add-on and can be downloaded from here.

Facebook and Gmail are two of the most popular services in the social networking and email category, but what if you can check your email while you can take a look at your friends updates in Facebook?

The Facebook Gadget tries to accomplish this by providing users with a handy gadget that will allow you to receive your latest notifications on Facebook, check your friends latest updates, view photos and even launch Facebook searches from your Gmail account or Google homepage.

To get Facebook updates in your Gmail account, just add the Facebook Gadget to Gmail by using the Gadgets by URL feature. The URL you will need for adding the Facebook Gadget is http://www.brianngo.net/ig/facebook.xml, if you are unsure how to add custom gadgets to Gmail, read our tutorial on Adding Custom Gadgets to Gmail.

Once you have added the Gadget, you will see a link to login to your Facebook account to provide access to the Facebook Gadget for Google to your Facebook account, just follow the steps and close the browser window, the gadget will automatically refresh and show you the latest update from your Facebook account in the Gmail sidebar.

You can also use the gadget on your Google IG homepage.

Before you react, Gmail Labs has not got any new features which integrates Twitter, however if you are a twitter and Gmail user, here is a handy way in which you can update your twitter account, reply to friends or keep a eye on what your followers are doing, while you are checking or replying to emails in your Gmail account.

You will need to add a custom getting provided by Twitter Gadget to your Gmail account, you can read our earlier guide on how to add custom gadgets to Gmail to learn more about the process.

To get twitter updates in your Gmail account, follow the steps in our guide and add use the URL http://www.twittergadget.com/gadget_gmail.xml while adding the gadget to Gmail, once you have added the new gadget, Twitter Gadget will appear in the sidebar, enter the username and password for your twitter account and hit on the login button.

Once you have logged into your twitter account, you can update your status and check your friends updaters without having to leave Gmail, you can also add the Twitter Gadget to your iGoogle page.

I have always been a big fan of Google Desktop for quite some time and use it as my primary search tool for the desktop, the good thing about Google Desktop is that I can also use several useful Gadgets that allow me to monitor websites from the desktop, maintain a to-do list, track Google AdSense earnings from the desktop and more.

Google Desktop also featured a handy gadget that would allow you to view the incoming emails in Microsoft Outlook and your Gmail account, however the gadget was pretty basic and you could not search emails or do other tasks with it.

The Gmail Gadget for Google Desktop allows users to browse email, compose emails and search for them without having to leave the desktop, definitely pretty useful for heavy Gmail users like me.

Gmail has definitely added quite a lot of value to itself by integrating Google Docs and Calendar into Gmail and the option to add any custom gadget to your Gmail account.

The trick involves activating the Google Docs and Calendar gadget in Gmail Labs and simply dragging and dropping the document links into your mail message.

Yesterday we told you about 3 new exciting features where they integrated Google Calendar and  Google Docs into Gmail, along with that, they also added a new feature where you can add a custom gadget to Gmail by providing the XML URL for it.

Here is a simple and step by step tutorial to add custom gadgets like Remember the Milk, weather or for that matter anything to your Gmail account.

Step 1: Activate the custom Gadget in Labs To start using of this nifty feature, you will first have to enable it. To do that, go to Settings > Labs and find Add any gadget by URLand activate it.

Step 2: Find XML URLs for the Gadgets To Add To Gmail Now that you have activate the feature, you will need to find the XML URLs for the gadgets you want to add, there are few places you can find gadgets, either in your Google IG home page or the Gadgets gallery.

If you want to add a existing Gadget from your Google IG page to Gmail, go to your IG homepage and find the gadget you want to add, click on the arrow key in the gadget menu and from the dropdown menu click on About this Gadget

Once you click on the option you will be taken to a new page where you can see information about the gadget, the address bar on this page contains the link to the Gadget XML URL, copy the URL and store it somewhere temporarily.

Alternatively, you can also find gadgets in the Gadget directory, to get the gadget XML URL in the directory find the gadget you want to add to Gmail and click on the link to view the full description, once you are on the description page, copy the URL from the address bar like shown in the screenshot above.

Step 3: Adding The Gadget To Gmail Once you have got hold of the XML URL of the gadget it is time to add it to your Gmail account, to do that go to Settings > Gadgets and enter the URL into the text box provided.

Note: If the XML URL is missing the protocol (http://) please add it, like we have done in the example.

Click on the Add button to add the custom gadget to Gmail, once you have done that you will the gadget appear in the settings page, as well as the sidebar.

Once you follow these steps, you can start enjoying your favorite gadgets in Gmail, however you will not be able to edit or change settings for the gadgets you have added, which we think should be added in near future.

Another notable problem we saw, was the inability to see gadgets built by Google, for example we were able to add the Google Reader gadget through the settings page, but it did not display in the sidebar, so it could be that Google is working internally on integrating more Google Products like Google Reader into Gmail.
