Last month, the Indian government made headlines by announcing the $35 tablet. While the hands-on demo by the Indian HRD minister Kapil Sibbal might have allayed fears that the tablet will turn out to be another vaporware from the Indian government, it is still a year away from mass production. In the meantime, Bangalore based Allgo Embedded Systems has created their own prototype tablet, which should cost around $50.
The tablet, which is being called “STAMP“, will sport a 7 inch touchscreen, and run Android or Linux. K. Srinivasan, the founder of Allgo said, “We have developed the prototype for which the material costs are $35 and are currently in talks with manufacturers”.
Stamp is still just a prototype. According to the estimates provided by Srinivasan, Stamp’s cost can be brought down to $45 if 100,000 units are manufactured and $40 if 1,000,000 units are manufactured.
Most of us weren’t expecting keyboard manufacturers to adopt the new Indian Rupee symbol until it got approved by the Unicode Consortium. However, TVS clearly had other plans. Barely a month after the symbol was unveiled, the popular keyboard manufacturer has released TVS Gold Bharat – the first keyboard to incorporate India’s new currency symbol.
As suggested by its name, the Bharat keyboard is optimised for Indian users. LittleAbout blog is reporting that the keyboard, which works on both Windows and Linux, also supports typing in Indian languages like Marathi, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Assamese and Malayalam.
TVS is known for building sturdy keyboards, and TVS Gold Bharat is no different. It has cherry mechanical switches that have been laser etched to withstand rough usage. The Gold Bharat is available for Rs. 1,495. However, if you don’t want to buy a new keyboard, you can also use the Rupee font we recommended earlier.
Apple has made it amply clear that they aren’t interested in letting Flash anywhere near its mobile devices. However, that doesn’t mean that Adobe is going to up on its plans for Mobile devices. At the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, Adobe demoed a prototype Android tablet running not only Flash, but also Adobe AIR.
The demoed device is a prototype in its truest sense. It was devoid of any branding and had an acrylic case as its enclosure. As you may expect, very little is known about this multi-touch tablet.
According to Zedomax, the mystery tablet device may shape up to be a decent offering. Even in its prototype form, it ran Adobe AIR and Flash “flawlessly”. Check out the videos below for more.

Adobe AIR may turn out to be a killer feature for tablet devices. There are already hundreds of Adobe AIR powered apps, including numerous popular Twitter, Facebook and YouTube clients. AIR will provide new entrants into the tablet segment a head start and offer them at least a fighting chance against Apple.
If you are not among the millions who have already purchased an iPad, you may want to hold out a bit longer. Adobe has revealed that there’s a slew of Android powered tablets in the pipeline. Although, Adobe refused to provide any specifics, by the end of the year, there should be plenty of choices in the tablet segment.
Tegra 2 is the latest iteration of Nvidia’s system-on-chip mobile processor, which was unveiled during CES 2010. Nvidia has made it clear that with Tegra 2 they are hoping to gain significant traction in the mobile market. If early benchmarks are an indication, then they may have a winner in their hands.
With Tegra 2 Nvidia has shifted to 40nm manufacturing process (compared to 65mn used earlier). It incorporates a Cortex-A9 CPU from ARM and is the first dual core A9 processor. Cortex A9 is an extremely capable platform which was able to match an Intel Atom processor coupled with a GPU. Have a look at the video embedded below. The real surprise here was that a Cortex A9 clocked at 500 MHz was comparable to an Intel Atom clocked at 1.6 GHz (coupled with a GPU).
Tegra 2 is a real winner when it comes to graphics. It was able to run Unreal 3 engine with ease. In fact Epic Games’ CEO Tim Sweeny, went so far as to proclaim that the next generation Tegras are nearly as capable as modern consoles when it comes to 3D rendering.
Nvidia failed to make much of a dent with Tegra. In fact, Zune HD almost solely carried Tegra on its back. However, Tegra 2 seems to be mind-blowing at the very least. It was able to smoothly play 1080p HD videos and managed to provide astounding battery life. According to reports, it is optimized enough to allow devices 16 hours of HD video playback and 140 hours of audio playback on a single charge. We already know that it will be powering

Quite recently Microsoft started banning XBox consoles from accessing XBox live for modifying the console to play pirated games. Turns out that many gamers are now getting rid of their banned XBox consoles for as low as $40 on Craigslist.
The XBox ban is currently only for the consoles and not user accounts, so the users selling them can buy a new one and start using it with their old account.
If you are planning to buy the cheap banned consoles on eBay or Craigslist, please be aware that you will NOT be able to access XBox Live at all, so proceed with caution.
