So you have installed Firefox 3.6 – the latest version of Firefox. One of the rich features of Firefox 3.6 is that you don’t require to restart the browser after installing an add-on or theme.
Upcoming Design of Firefox 4
Below is an image from the Mozilla Wiki which shows how the new interface of Firefox 4 might look.
Now if you are impressed with the upcoming Firefox design and want to try it now, the Fx4 add-on for Firefox is worth a try. This add on, merged with the Fx4 theme will give your current Firefox the new Firefox 4 look.
Install fx4 Firefox add-on.
Install Fx4 Firefox theme.
I tried both the theme and the extension and here is how my Firefox 3.6 looks:
Now that’s cool. The tab effects are impressive and the combo buttons (stop, refresh) reduce clutter. On this page, you can tell the developers about changes you’d like to see.
Microsoft Office 2010 looks quite cool and thanks to a new extension you can easily get the same look in Firefox. TwentyTen is a new theme for Firefox which includes Office 2010 inspired graphics and color styles.
TwentyTen for Firefox with Microsoft Word Color Style
The theme also features a companion extension called TwentyTenBuddy which allows you to tweak various aspects of the theme and change color styles. The best thing is that, any changes you make are applied instantaneously.
TwentyTen for Firefox – Theme Options
Although the theme supports Aero Glass effects, it is completely optional. The theme looks good even on systems without Aero. I personally prefer to use the theme with the menu bar hidden. If you feel that you can’t do without the menu bar, you can use the Hide Menubar extension for Firefox to temporarily hide the menu bar.
TwentyTen for Firefox – File Menu
TwentyTen is one of the best Firefox themes we have come across. Its biggest strength is its minimalism. Give it a try and let us know if you loved it as much as we did.

Mozilla has been working hard on giving Firefox 4.0 a facelift. Stephen Horlander, who has been a long time Mozilla contributor, has shared some more information about the upcoming user interface (UI) changes.
Firefox 4.0 Mockup
The new skin will eliminate the Menu Bar and instead tuck away all the options within a single application menu. This is similar to what you may have seen in Windows 7 applications like Paint and WordPad as well as the recently released Opera 10.5 pre-alpha.
The other big change in Firefox 4.0 will be the placement of the tab bar. According to current plans, the tab bar will be now positioned above the address bar. However, the tab bar will not be merged with the title bar. The title bar will be retained in order to house the application button. There will be numerous other changes all around including new icons and refined toolbar appearance.
Firefox 4.0 vs 3.5
The Firefox 4.0 UI is still a work in progress. However, it is definitely shaping up to be an impressive update to the existing skin. What do you think about the changes? Do you prefer having a simple single menu instead of a menu bar? Don’t forget to let us know.

However installing the theme is not straight forward, and you will need to follow a series of steps before you can get the look and feel of the Firefox 3.7 mockups.
For complete instructions to install the theme and get the proper effects visit Mozilla Firefox 3.7 Mockup Theme page.
Firefox 3.5 was released just a short time back, however Mozilla has already begun work on Firefox 3.7 the next version of the browser.
Mashable spotted the new theme mockup screenshots of Mozilla in the Mozilla Wiki.
The new features in the theme will include;
- Embracing Glass: Toolbar and Tabs using Glass. Buttons translucent and slightly glossy to meld with the toolbar. Raised 3D lookachieve tactile "feel".
- Page Button: Connect the Page button to the left side of the tab area. Directly connected to the Page.
- Tools/Bookmark Bar: Connecting the Tools button to the side of the Window to emphasize the fact that it is used for customizing and changing the UI. Adding a button next to that to toggle the Bookmarks Bar which is turned off by default.
Here are the screens from the mockup created for the default Windows Firefox theme.
What do you think of the theme for Firefox 3.7? Remember these are just initial mockups and lots of things may change in the final version of the product.
