Microsoft Releases Windows 8 Cover Photo App For Viral Facebook Promotions

With Windows 8 available to download and purchase, Microsoft wants its users to tell their friends about Windows 8. And what better way than Facebook. Microsoft has a Facebook app that generates an image of the new start screen using your Facebook information, and this image can be used as your cover photo. You don’t need to be running Windows 8 for the app but you can get a customized Metro start screen as your Facebook cover picture.

Creating the cover pic is a simple one-click process with the app doing most of the work. Once a cover has been created, you have the option of changing any of the pictures and the color:

Microsoft has done similar promotions for Windows Phone 7. An app loaded Facebook information into a Windows Phone 7 mockup and let users try what Windows Phone 7 is like. The promotion isn’t useless since Windows 8 has Facebook integration such as adding Facebook friends to the people hub and Facebook Messaging–which happens to be one of my favorite feature.

Find All Your Friends’ Relationship Status on Facebook with RelationBook

I have been using for the past few years now, and one thing I have noticed is that a relationship status change on Facebook generates a lot of likes and comments. While it is impossible to keep an eye on the relationship status of each and every friend of ours in real life, Facebook does provide a easier way to do it.

However, most of the times, you might not know what the relationship status of a friend is unless they update it or you look at their profile. If you have hundreds of friends, that could be a lot of work. Well that was until a new app came through.

Relation Status on Facebook - RelationBook

RelationBook is a new Facebook app which will tell you “who’s in a relationship” and who is not by looking at your friends profiles. The app sorts out your friends into various relationship status Facebook allows a user to set, thus allowing you to browse their profiles by clicking on links on the left side. RelationBook also allows you to search for friends using their name and filter their profiles by their gender.

Overall, RelationBook is a nice app which allows you to find out your friends’ relationship. However, it could add some more features like telling you when someone changed their relationship recently.

Words with Friends Cheats: Find Best High Scoring Words

Words with Friends is one of the best game available on app store which is very similar to the traditional Scrabble game. Words with Friends allows users to play the game with multiple friends online. I have been playing this game for a while and love it. The game also has apps for both iOS and allowing you to play the game on the go as well.

Considering that the game is played online there is a lot of chances for people to look up the dictionary to find words and score high points. So how do you score high points in Words with Friends? Well there are several ways to do it and I’ll list a few of them here.

Word Solver for Words With Friends

The first option to find words out of the alphabets on your board in Words With Friends is Word Solver. This website provides you options to solve Scrabble words using various dictionaries including; Scrabble Tournament Word List, English Scrabble Dictionary, Words with Friends Dictionary and French Scrabble Dictionary among others.

Word Solver Results

All you have to do is enter the words on your board in the textbox provided and click on the "Find words!" button and it will automatically display the words you can create using your board. Another similar alternative for finding words is Lexical Word Finder.

The above websites can be used to create words from alphabets on your board. However, what if you want to add to already existing words created on the table? Well, there is a cheat for that too.

More Words is a excellent website which would help  you in many ways with solving words in "Words for Friends" and Scrabble in general. It is basically a word search engine which provides you with definitions, anagrams and more. More Words also provides users with an option to create words by adding letters to it and also search for larger words containing a particular word and words starting with or ending with your search.

So if you are looking to cheat in Scrabble or Words with Friends online, look no farther than More Words since it can provide you with the best help you can do with.

While there are many more websites that can help you with finding words for your Scrabble or Words with Friends game. I think the above mentioned websites should be more than sufficient.

P.S. I didn’t want to be a spoilsport and take the fun out of the game. However, considering that players can play at their own pace and have the internet to look up words this isn’t technically cheating Smile or is it?

iOS 5.1 Will Have Facebook Integration

A few months back Apple and had a problem over API access in iTunes Ping which led to Apple removing Facebook integration from Ping and then ditching them completely in favor of Twitter in iOS 5. However, it looks like the fight between Facebook and Apple might finally be over.

Last month we had reported that Facebook integration was spotted in iOS 5.1 Beta 3 and it looks like iOS 5.1 might actually have a deeper integration with the social networking website.

Facbeook iOS 5.1 Integration

Since the problems between Apple and Facebook arose, Facebook started displaying "via mobile" as the update method for their . However, it looks like few hours before the iPad 3/iPad HD event, Facebook has started to display the "via Facebook for iPhone" again.

Our editors Parth and Sathya tested out that updates sent from the / or iPad show the via as seen in the image above. I also tested the same for and continued seeing "via mobile".

So will iOS now have Facebook integration like it has for ? Well, our editors think that we should definitely see it during tomorrows announcement. We’ll keep you updated with more information if we come across it and keep you in the loop.

Friendsheet, Pinterest for Facebook Photos

Pinterest has been creating a lot of social media traction, specially among the female crowd. It has become one of the best ways to find interesting things that are pinned by users to an online pin board. Pinterest has also been one of the biggest social media stories aside from and in recent times.

Friendsheet, Pinterest for Facebook Photos

While interest in Pinterest is not dying down, a new service/Facebook app might change things a bit. A new service called Friendsheet allows you to browse your friends photos on Facebook in an interface which is similar to that of Pinterest.

The app asks users to login using Facebook and then asks for certain permissions before it can fetch all your friends photos. Once you have successfully logged in you will be able to browse all your friends photos. It displays all your friends photos in a neat interface (similar to Pinterest). You can then easily; like, share and comment on your friends photos from the same interface. It also provides with an option for endless scrolling where you can load new photos from your friends by scrolling to the bottom of the page.

Friendsheet touts itself as the best photo browser for Facebook and though it does not provide any other functionality other than browsing your friends photos, it definitely has a lot of scope to compete with Pinterest. Also, the fact that Mark Zuckerberg himself shared the service might ring a few bells among the Pinterest developers.

Dedicate Facebook Status Updates to 9/11 Victims with “9/11 Memorial” Facebook App

In collaboration with  social media  giant Facebook, The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is  seeking users on Facebook to post photos or messages dedicating and honoring the 3,000 men, women, and children who perished in the attacks of 9/11 with the help of the app called the  9/11 Memorial.

In    August 2006,  The National September 11 Memorial & Museum began construction on the former location of the Twin Towers which were destroyed by the terrorist group al-Qaeda in September 2001. The memorial was planned to remember the victims who lost their lives in the attacks. It is a non-profit organization, which will be opened this year on September 11, and the museum will open in 2012.

9/11 Memorial Facebook Application

The Memorial’s Mission follows a strong message –

  • Remember and honor the thousands of innocent men, women, and children murdered by terrorists in the horrific attacks of February 26, 1993 and September 11, 2001.
  • Respect this place made sacred through tragic loss.
  • Recognize the endurance of those who survived the courage of those who risked their lives to save others, and the compassion of all who supported us in our darkest hours.
  • May the lives remembered, the deeds recognized, and the spirit reawakened be eternal beacons, which reaffirm respect for life, strengthen our resolve to preserve freedom, and inspire an end to hatred, ignorance and intolerance.

The application is developed and maintained by Facebook app developer Involver, which was released on Wednesday. When a user posts a photo or sends a message, the application will randomly select and dedicate a status to any single victim out of the 3,000 victims.

The goal of the application is to honor and remember victims of this devastating attack on America, 10 years later, explains Involver‘s Senior Vice President of Marketing Jascha Kaykas-Wolff.

[via] Adapts Social Networking Site Facebook, online employment hub, is adapting its job search to social networking site Facebook. Monster, will be doing this by launching a Facebook app called BeKnown on Monday.

With BeKnown, users can import their data from Facebook profile to the Facebook app and let users manage their professional and personal network from one place. Another professional network that is trying out similar approach is BranchOut and going from my Facebook news stream it’s pretty evident that BranchOut app is pretty popular among young professionals. In fact, BranchOut already has 800,000 users.

How BeKnown is trying to differ from BranchOut is, it’s trying to turn your professional life into a little game. That is, users will get badges like you get in FourSquare once you complete your graduation, get a job, a promotion, etc. I’m pretty sure once you become a CEO, the badge would say “I’m CEO, bitch”.

To think that almost everyone is adapting their business with the social networking site Facebook says something. Earlier this week, Linkedin, an independent professional social network site announced that they now have 10 million users in India and about 100 million users worldwide. We have written an elaborate article on why Linkedin’s huge user base does not make sense in the largely Social world.
