Duke Nukem Forever Delayed. Gearbox is Not Running Yet

WAIT! It was not our fault. Go beat the guys at Gearbox over here. We did not break anything, honest. Even Randy Pitchford did not he was the last person to know about this!

Aside from the flakily humorous announcement video of Duke Nukem Forever’s delay, it seems that Gearbox is pushing towards a stable release rather than a buggy and ridiculously unplayable May release which would do more harm than good for the studio that has taken one of the gaming world’s heavyweights for development. I am pretty sure they understand that it would be hard to please the average 30 year old teenager (considering the fact that once you do get this game, you automagically become a teenager or a pre-teen, no matter what)

The new release date given is June 10th for the international version and June 14th for the North American version. The earlier release dates were May 6th for the international version and May 3rd for the North American version.

Wait, what? Yes the international release is 4 days earlier than the North American release. This is… a first. We would like to see how the gaming community responds to this strange rescheduling.

Do tell us how you feel about this change of release dates in the comments below!

Duke Nukem Forever Might Just Spark Off a Controversy.

Granted, the Duke does not really court the generally non-offensive part of gaming. His games are filled with goofy and pseudo-chauvinist ideologies that are misinterpreted by mothers and girlfriends worldwide as being generally anti-feminist. However, the Duke is basically a man who concerns himself with saving women worldwide (they do need saving in his world), smoking a few fags (cigarettes) and happily urinating on urinals and watching a vibrator with inconsequential grunts and getting rewardsfrom lesbian schoolgirls.

Yes, the Duke does not court controversy, honest. But we’ve had this conversation before, haven’t we?

Thing is, duke4.net has unearthed the Official Xbox North America scans of Duke Nukem Forever’s multiplayer scans, and it appears that among the normal Deathmatch and King of the Hill modes (disguised as DukeMatch and Hail to the King), there appears to be a Capture the Babemode which is akin to Capture the Flag mode with babes instead of flags. Do I hear outrage? Wait for it.

Apparently, the babes sometimes freak outwhen you carry her to your home base. What better way to reassure her that everything is fine than to smack her bottom gently and coo her too sleep? Nothing at all, readers. The magazine, however, reassuringly states that a slap on the bum is more goofy than insensitive.

Duke Nukem Forever is slated for a May 3rd release and will probably spark off protests the day after.

Gearbox Head Wants Feminists to Use Duke Nukem as a Channel for Spreading Awareness

Anyone who has played Duke Nukem knows that the Duke is… well, quite the chauvinist. The satirical action game series takes machismo to an unreal high with fawning women lusting after a crass, crude and hulking one-man army. This has not changed the slightest bit in Gearbox’s First Person Shooter (FPS) Duke Nukem Forever. The game features Duke participating in schoolgirl threesomes, watching strippers and smoking cigarette brands called Fags. Needless to say, the game will be quite the controversy magnet when it is released.

However, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford is perfectly happy with the controversy Duke Nukem Forever will generate. In fact, he welcomes it:-

“I’ll tell you what, if some feminist organisation that is doing a great job advocating women’s rights worldwide, which I think is really important, can get some advantage by using Duke… go for it. How is there a downside for humanity? Go for it. Take it. Use Duke. That would be awesome.

“If anyone can better our world through the use of anything, and if Duke is a tool to help them do that, that’s fine. The people that are entertained… The choices people make are their choices.”

He also touched upon the satirical universe that Duke Nukem inhabits with aliens stealing the women to be baby-making machines and transforming men into pigs. Duke, in fact, wishes to save the women from their harsh fates. If the women are attracted to his engorged charisma, then he’ll not exactly complain, will he?

“He’s the centre of his universe, and everyone in his universe exists to please him, and women offer him different things to men, but he himself is… His whole purpose in existing is to save and protect women not that they need saving and protecting, but in his world they do, because there’s this rare reality of how our species reproduces, and so the aliens are going to use that against us.”

He also quipped about the game’s cigarettes being called fags, which at some point of time was changed in the English language from a slang term for cigarettes to a derogatory term for homosexuals.

“Sometimes in entertainment, things that people are already aware of are a great opportunity for them to get attention for it. So things like ‘fags’… It’s a stupid videogame. They’re just jokes, and I think everybody gets it.”

It’s refreshing to see that Gearbox is not overly concerned with the controversial imagery and thought that this game will obviously thrust forth upon the world when it is released. Instead, Pitchford’s genial comments on a gaming franchise that is known for its crassness and satire predict a newer and better future for gaming.

DNF: Balls of Steel Edition Surfaces. Is Awesome.

Duke Nukem Forever is the byword today for anyone born twenty or more years ago. We at Techie Buzz cannot get enough of it with good reason. May will be a tumultuous time for the release of many games as the Duke will be back after a very f***ing long time!

To make sure people are roped in, Gearbox is putting up the Collector’s Edition of Duke Nukem Forever for preordering. To call it hugewould be an understatement.

The edition includes these excellent goodies along with a copy of the game and exclusive cover art:-

  • Collectible bust of the greatest alien ass-kicker of all-time
  • Numbered, limited-edition certificate of authenticity
  • 100-page hardcover book: The History, Legacy & Legend: Duke Nukem Forever Art from the Vault
  • Duke Nukem Forever postcard series
  • Duke Nukem Forever radioactive emblem sticker
  • Duke Nukem Forever collectable comic book
  • Duke Nukem Forever foldable paper craft
  • Duke Nukem Forever poker chips
  • Duke Nukem Forever mini-card deck
  • Duke Nukem Forever radioactive emblem dice

All this for a game that heightens the macho typecasting by a few thousand feet. (Straight from TVTropes Duke’s not slowed down by piddling little bullets and lasers, but it does hurt his morale. Which is why doing manly things like getting drunk, [redacted], watching strippers, or drinking from a water fountain gives the bar a permanent increase.)

Oh, and in case you were wondering the preorders will be up with participating retailersvery soon. Probably tonight. Probably in two minutes. But soon.

Duke Nukem Forever Release Date Announced: May 3, 2011

May 6th for every country apart from the US of A, because there will be a considerable amount of collective mangasms when Duke Nukem Forever is released for poor mother earth to bear.

Being a member of the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club has several advantages. One gets to know about the release dates, gets to see new videos and concept art and generally feels good, knowing that after all the trouble 3D Realms went about to become Gearbox Studios, all their really hard work is going to see some really good recognition.

Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software had this to say.

When I said goodbye to 3D Realms and the original Duke Nukem 3D team in 1997 and soon after founded Gearbox Software, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that a day like today would come. Today I am proud, humbled and even astounded to announce that the day is coming at last for all gamers to be a part of video game history: Duke Nukem Forever will launch worldwide this May!

In line with this announcement a spanking new video trailer has been released for DNF (which, as you all know by now is not an acronym for Did Not Finish; those jokes are old and irrelevant now). You can watch the trailer here (or below, where you shall find it embedded).

Duke Nukem Forever Re-Announced. Gearbox Pitches 2011 Release Date

I did not want to write this post because, of all the things, I’m superstitious of this video game’s release. What if this post jinxes it? What if a rearranged word here ripples out and somehow topples the balance of this game’s release? Nevermind that, and brace for the following bold, italicized and underlined sentence in all caps:-

Now that that little formality is done with, here are the quick facts about this long, long awaited sequel to the 1996 game Duke Nukem 3D.

The game is being finished by Gearbox Studios, based on now-defunct 3D Realms’ original code. The game will be released in 2011for the PS3, Xbox 360 and, of course, the PC.

Gearbox’s president Randy Pitchford revealed a bit of the plot to the Wall Street Journal:-

“Aliens come and say they’re going to be our friends, and Duke knows this isn’t going to work out. Duke once again is in the pivotal spot and it’s up to him to save the world.”

Plots? Who wants plots in a first person shooter? Not I!

This game is every young gamer’s sweetest dream come true. Will Gearbox deliver? More importantly, will the game actually be released? Find out in a few months’ time!
