However, the manufacturer has started rolling out much sooner than expected. These handsets were originally shipped with the old Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, which was later updated to the Android 4.0 in mid-2012.

Motorola is currently rolling out this update in batches. It might take some days for the update to reach your smartphone. The latest update is numbered 98.72.16.XT912 and it brings smart keyboard, Google Now, improved voice search, enhanced notifications, improved voice and data connectivity and much more. Motorola and Verizon Unveil The DROID RAZR MAXX

Along with the Droid 4, Motorola and Verizon also announced a new member of the Droid RAZR family, the Droid RAZR MAXX. As its name suggests, the RAZR MAXX takes the Droid RAZR to the next level.

While the RAZR MAXX is not as slim as its sibling, it still has a decent waistline of 8.9mm. This allows Motorola to cram in a bigger removable battery on the handset. While the size of the battery is unknown at the moment, Motorola states that the RAZR MAXX can provide continuous talk-time of up to 21 hours on a single-charge!

The  RAZR packs in a 4.3-inch Super-AMOLED ‘Advanced’ screen with qHD (960×640) resolution. Internally, the MAXX packs in a 1.2GHz dual-core processor OMAP 4630 processor, a PowerVR SGX 650 GPU, 1GB of RAM, comes with a Kevlar back, an 8MP camera at its back, a 1.3MP camera in the front, and a microSD card slot. The usual sensors and connectivity features including support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network is also present.

The Droid RAZR MAXX will cost users $299.99 on a two-year contract. The handset is expected to hit Verizon’s retail stores in the coming weeks.
