Preorder The Witcher 2 on GOG.com

A DRM-free, AAA, new title on GOG.com? Yes! We decided to promote this highly-anticipated RPG by our sister company CD Projekt RED as a one time special.

thewitcher2

At their web conference, the people over at CD Projekt decided to show their loyalists some love in a very unique way. It was almost as if the monks of GOG conferred with each other and decided, in perfect Monty Python style, and now for something completely different.

In the conference the release date was announced as May 17th 2011, and the contents of the Collector’s and Premium editions of the game, as well as some preorder details. One of these preorder details was that the game could be purchased from their sister project: GOG.com, the premiere DRM-free digital distribution service.

Although the preorder page at GOG is as of now showing a 404, the tentative details that emerged from their post are that it would feature a 10% discount as well as a free download of any one of the premiere RPGs in GOG’s catalog. The preorder will also entail instant access to some bonus contents of the game.

Also, it seems like you do not have to pay upfront for the preorder how that would work out is still in the dark because of the missing page.

triss

For me, this is the sweetest deal imaginable and I’d jump as soon as I could. Hopefully the missing page will be reinstated soon!

Update: They have taken down the announcement page as well. Stay tuned for further updates!

Shooter Weekend on GOG.com!

gog

Four classic first person shooters are on a 40% off weekend on our favorite classic games website GOG.com! AquaNox, Postal 2, Painkiller: Black Edition and Redneck Rampage are the four games with a lot of runnin’ and a lot of gunnin’! Needless to say these are the best ways to let off steam from a heavy day or even a heavy week!

aquanox

AquaNox: Though most fans regard this as a flawed sequel to the Aqua series, it is still a decent game to play. Though technically not a run and gungame, it plays a lot like Freespace only it’s underwater!

postal2

Postal 2 Complete: You’re the Dude, dude! Shoot things, buy milk and kill everyone in a queue to return library books! Remember that this hilarious game is only as violent as you want it to be. So while you can play the entire game without (much) bloodshed, you can also play it with unnecessarily large amounts of blood too. Fun!

painkiller

Painkiller: Black Edition: As one reviewer on the game page says, this is the one true sequel to the original Quake. Paying due homage to old-school FPSs, the game is all about level design, insane and horrifying enemy hordes and oodles of shooting fun! It’s a cult hit and the Black Edition also includes the Battle Out of Hell expansion pack for 3.5GB of gaming insanity!

redneck rampage

Redneck Rampage: Crash-land UFOs, cuss at jack o’ lopes in the desert and ride over people in a Swamp Buggy and an armed motorcycle. Oh, did I mention that there was a lot of cussing? Play this hilarious game for weeks of redneck shootin’.

So which games will you buy in the Shooter Weekend at GOG.com?

Wipro To Offer Blu-Ray Devices & Services In Association With Philips

Wipro + Philips Deals Blu-Ray Disc

Wipro Tech has entered into a strategic deal with Philips to provide Blu-Ray solutions in the Indian Market. According to the exact specifications of the deal, Wipro Tech can now offer Blu-ray middleware and solution development services related to the new   Blu-ray technology all developed by Philips.

AI War and Its Expansion for 50% Off on Steam

There is something to be said about this labor of love. Christopher Park founded Arcen Games and went on to make AI War: Fleet Command which is one of the most unique space-strategy games out there. It is a space-based 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate) strategy game which is mostly RTS (Real Time Strategy) with elements of a TBS (Turn Based Strategy). As a grand game that takes away the pressure of micromanagement from the players and focuses on the underlying strategy instead. So instead of working with each and every one of the 90,000 units that this game is reported to support at a single time, you will work like the admiral you are flanking, debilitating and using guerilla tactics against your enemy.

image

This entire week, the game will be up for sale on Steam for $9.99!

AI War: Fleet Command was a hit. So Arcen Games decided to push ahead with an expansion! AI Wars: The Zenith Remnant added a huge number of features to an already awesome game with Core ships, ancient alien artifacts and moody Dyson Spheres. Being a game full of consequences and no competitive multiplayer (you fight the AI and only the AI, hence the name) this massive expansion pack is also on sale on Steam for $4.99 this week!

If you are still not convinced, check this trailer from Gametrailers for AI War: Fleet Command!

All Quake Games – 50% Off on Steam!

image

There are first person shooters, and then there’s Quake. This game shattered lives as much as it shattered the barriers of gameplay. This spawn of evil enslaved gamers and took away their time and lives before the World of Warcraft’s virtual daddy was even born. It brought together the phrases shoot em upand whole new level gamingin the same sentence and if there was a truer sentence, I have yet to read it. Now, Valve has opened up its vaults and is offering the entire Quake series from the original right up to Quake III Team Arena at the mind-boggling price of $14.99. If you consider yourself a fanatic, this is your time to exhibit your fanaticism.

image

Quake: Haven’t I told you enough about this already? Off you go to buy it! Also, Steam is selling Quake’s Mission Packs one and two for $2.49 apiece. You should buy those as well.

image

Quake II: Landing on an alien surface, you find that your crew of hundreds was reduced to a handful. Sounds familiar? Well, it was not clichéd back then so you will stop cringing and start playing. The Ground Zero and The Reckoning Mission Packs are also available in this package.

image

Quake III Arena: My tryst with the Quake series began with this game. It definitely did siphon off afternoons and evenings and nights and sometimes, the early dawns of my life. I do remember that at the highest difficulty level, Xaero was a cheater. Team Arena added five different factions that you could play as. However, Red vs. Blue was all I ever knew and all I ever want to know!

Buy the Quake complete package on Steam for $14.99.
