ICC World Cup 2011

After the spinners bailed India out of the first ICC World Cup 2011 warm-up game against Australia, the Indian batsmen will be looking to put behind their bad batting display and get some runs on the board against New Zealand. Though Sehwag got an half century in the first game, it wasn’t as fluent as he would have wanted it to be.

The return of Sachin Tendulkar in the second practice match should bolster the Indian batting, but the middle order has to chip in. It is really important for at-least 2-3 batsmen to click. Pathan who had played a good knock against Australia is almost a certainty in the opener against Bangladesh and the pressure will be on Raina and Kohli to bat well.

Among the fast bowlers, Nehra, Sreeshant and Patel will have to bowl good as they weren’t given much of a bowl in the first match. The Indian team management will also be looking at the spinners performances to determine who makes the playing eleven in the opener against Dhaka.

The practice match between India and New Zealand will be a day night affair and will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
