Jailbreakers Don’t Upgrade to iTunes 9.2 For "Spirit", Ok for redsn0w and PwnageTool

Apple just released an update to iTunes in the form of iTunes 9.2, however, if you jailbreak your iPhone, here is some advice from the dev team.

Don’t install today’s iTunes 9.2 if you plan on using Spirit for fresh JB (but it’s fine for PwnageTool & redsn0w users)

Do no upgrade to iTunes 9.2 if you are using the Spirit jailbreaking tool, however, if you are using redsn0w or PwnageTool to jailbreak the iPhone you can safely upgrade to iTunes 9.2.

Apple will also be releasing iOS4 for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and the iPod Touch shortly. will be made available as a free update and can only be installed using iTunes 9.2, so if you have used Spirit to jailbreak your device you will have to wait till an update is available to it.

However, the iOS4 has already been jailbroken using PwnageTool Bundle. In addition to that, there is also a iOS4 unlock through Blacksn0w RC2.

Unlock iOS4 iPhone 3GS Using Blacksn0w RC2

Steve has released the RC2 version of the Blacksn0w unlocks for iOS4. The RC2 version of blacksn0w is just a repackagedversion of the original iOS4 unlock released by geohot. The Blacksn0w RC2 also contains the binariesiPhone 3GS for 5.11.07 baseband for iPhone 3GS. The binary for 5.11.07 baseband was released by msft.guy a few days ago.

Use on Modem Firmware 05.11.07 ONLY!

V1.2: Support for 4.0 GM. Backwards compatible to 3.1.2/3 as well. V1.1: MyWi tethering fix

Geohot’s unlock for 3.1.2/3.1.3/4.0GM on the iPhone 3GS (and probably 3G). Please donate at http://blackra1n.com/ if you enjoy.

With 3.1.3 & 4.0 GM patch (when needed) by msft.guy. Packaged by Pushfix.info

This is an unofficial release but Geohot HAS given me permission to redistribute blacksn0w. All known issues with WiFi loss and boot loops seem to be fixed.   If it doesn’t work for some reason, you should still get the SpringBoard. This allows you to uninstall if necessary. It is a little slower to boot because of the increased safety of the release. A 3GS boots to cell connection established in about 90 seconds in iOS 4 now (50% slower than 3.1.X).

Improvements may be made in the future.

The Blacksn0w RC2 unlock is only for iPhone 3GS on 05.11.07 baseband, with an old bootrom.

Here are the steps to unlock your iPhone 3GS running on iOS4.

Blacksn0w Will Enable Tethering on iPhone OS 3.1.2

George Hotz has been teasing users with sneak peeks of Blackra1n and a notice that Blacksn0w releasing on November 4th for Free, according to some new information provided by him, Blacksn0w will also enable tethering on iPhone OS 3.1.2.

This is good news, as you can start using the data plan on your iPhone (which costs $30 on a iPhone 3GS) to good use, and use it to surf the internet on your laptop or computer for free.

Blacksn0w is definitely worth waiting for. Hang on for 48 hours and await more teases from George before the grand launch on November 4th.

Blackra1n Sneak Peek with Blacksn0w Installed

GeoHotz is heating up the run to the launch of Blacksn0w, which will allow users to unlock iPhone 3G/3GS OS 3.12 on baseband 05.11.07. Blacksn0w release is confirmed for 4th November, and it will be completely FREE to download and unlock iPhone.

George posted a picture of the working version of Blackra1n on his TwitPic account, which also includes Blacksn0w.

Looks like November 4th is going to be a really good day for George. Does anyone see Apple cringing yet? Oh and yes, we are sure Apple lawyers might be all worked up about this :-).

Just a reminder, Blacksn0w is a absolute free download, we will post links and tutorials once it becomes active, so don’t waste your money to unlock your iPhone, when it can actually be done for FREE.

Blacksn0w iPhone Unlock Confirmed “FREE” for 4th November

George Hotz or GeoHotz has confirmed that he will be releasing Blacksn0w to Unlock iPhone 3G/3GS OS 3.1.2 Baseband 05.11.07 for November 4th.

However, it looks like George is pretty pissed at Jody Sanders, who has offered the developer $10000 to allow the so called shady iPhone Unlocking siteto sell Blacksn0w.

First off, Jody Sanders, I am declining your $10,000. Why? Because you, and the rest of the iPhone unlock sites out there are scum. You make money selling freeware; that’s not cool, and I am in no way going to legitimize it.

Seriously, the people who really lose here are the customers. These sites are full of blatant lies, claiming to have unlocks for 05.11.07 People buy them, and are told the unlock is in development, and the release date is unknown. Imagine you bought a cup of coffee and were told it’s in development? Recently, many of these sites sent out e-mails saying they made major breakthroughs and the unlock will be ready 11/04/09. Coincidence that that’s the release date of blacksn0w?

If you are waiting to unlock your iPhone 3G/3GS using OS 3.1.2 baseband 05.11.07, hold on to your horses till November 4th. You will be able to download the Blacksn0w and unlock your iPhone for FREE (as in BEER).

Every iPhone unlock site you see out there is selling our stuff, repackaged in some form or another. Same goes for jailbreaks, although ih8sn0w and chronicdev are legit. Notice what all the legit ones have in common? They are free.

This is the first time I have tried to make something simple for the end users, and it enrages me to see people selling it. Let’s shut all these assholes down, and tell the iPhone owning world all they need is at blackra1n.com, including blacksn0w instructions on it’s release date, 11/04/09 (yes, will support hacktivation). You do your part, and I’ll do mine making things as simple, reliable, and straightforward as possible.

So beware of the scamsters who are trying to pawn you off your money, just to unlock or jailbreak your iPhone. There are several good people like George Hotzwho do this for FREE, just because Apple is so stubborn :-).
