Video Of Gingerbread ‘Screen Off’ Animation Surfaces

The folks over at Phandroid have managed to get their hands on a video of Gingerbread running on the Nexus One. The video is only ten seconds long and shows an animation which occurs when the screen is turned off. The animation is something similar to the effect which happens when users used to switch off their old tube TVs back in the 80-90s.

Here is the Gingerbread Screen Offanimation video I am talking about -:

Of course, the above animation is nothing stellar but nevertheless it does have a cool’ factor to it (at least, I do). As of now, no version of Android or any Custom ROM has this sort of animation when turning the screen off.

With Gingerbread announcement around the corner, I am sure more videos of it in action will be popping up on the Internet.

These ten new screensavers seem to be mostly either clock themes, or some type of gauge. I was surprised to find that the gauge screensavers are uniquely designed clocks for displaying the time. The gauge on the left shows 24 hours. The gauge on the right shows 60 minutes. If you have the time, you can download one of these to help you keep the time.

The other’s are each unique in their own ways and below, you can get a quick preview by watching this short video.

Although I didn’t hear any sound in the ones I tried, there is a mute option in the screensaver settings.

I don’t recommend letting drunk people operate your PC. There’s nothing worse than a PC with a spyware hangover.

Understand How Things Work With AnimatedExplanations

Reading informative how-to articles help to a certain extend but sometimes you really need to see an illustration to understand the topic. AnimatedExplanations is a new web service that aims to do exactly that. It is a collection of short animations that help you understand things related to health, technology and life in general.

The collection is still pretty small but the quality of content is top notch. The animations are all well made with a clear narrative. Topics include simple things like “What is Twitter?” and “What is a Migraine” as well as complex issues like ‘What is IPv6″ and “What is Multiple Myeloma?”. Most of the animations can also be downloaded, shared through social media and email and even embedded on web pages using the provided code.

Animated Explanations

With a clean and easy to use interface, browsing through the animations is simple and fun. Organizations can create custom channels to explain their products and reach large audience through some high quality content. If you have an organization but no time to spend on creating an animation, you can also sponsor one related to your industry. Over all, AnimatedExplanations is a neat idea that will grow tremendously with the number of animations of the site given that the quality of the animations is not compromised.
