AT&T Unveils Pantech Discover; 4.8 Inch HD Display, 12.6 MP Camera For $50

AT&T recently announced the powerful Pantech Discover smartphone. It is the first AT&T smartphone pre-loaded with the AT&T DriveMode, an app designed to help prevent texting while driving. This powerful yet affordable device packs a 4.8 inch HD display, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 4G LTE and a 12.6 megapixel camera for just $50 on contract.

Pantech Discover will be shipped with the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System, however the device will be upgraded to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean soon after the launch. The pre-loaded AT&T DriveMode app can be extremely useful while driving. The app can be set-up to automatically send a customizable reply to incoming messages once a vehicle starts moving at a speed of more than 25 mph.

Pantech Discover features a 4.8 inch HD display, sporting a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 Pro, Android 4.0 OS, 12.6 megapixel rear camera with 4X zoom, full HD (1080p) video recording and playback, Near Field Communication (NFC), 4G LTE Connectivity, 16 GB internal memory, MicroSD card slot, 32 GB expandable memory and a 2100 mAh battery.

Pantech Discover comes with full VPN and EAS support, plus device encryption for secure access to corporate email and intranets. This handset will so on sale from January 11 in the US. Pantech Discover can be purchased for just $49.99 with a two year service agreement.

Karbonn Launches A30 Smartphone; Comes With 5.9 Inch Display, Android 4.0

Some major handset makers such as Samsung and Huawei are expected to announce a phone/tablet hybrid device with a large 6 inch display at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013 in Las Vegas. However, the Indian mobile phone manufacturer Karbonn went a step ahead and launched the world’s first smartphone with a large 5.9 inch display!

The Karbonn A30 is a dual-SIM smartphone, which runs on the old Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. The price of this device is nowhere close to our favorite phablet, the Galaxy Note II. Karbonn has also pre-loaded some useful apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, PayTM, Saavn and Karbonn Smart.

Sony Unveils The Android 4.1 Powered Xperia E Smartphone

Sony recently unveiled the Android powered Xperia E smartphone. It is the company’s first device to ship with the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. Sony Xperia E will be available in both single-SIM and dual-SIM variants. This handset features noise cancellation that filters out background noise and allows you to have clear conversations in any environment.

Lenovo P770 Launched In China; Comes With 3500 mAh Battery, Android 4.1

What is only thing you don’t like about your smartphone? Ask this question to any of the Android smartphone users and you will get the same answer from almost everyone. The battery life! Last year, Motorola surprised everyone with Motorola Razr Maxx, which was the first smartphone to ship with a powerful 3300 mAh battery. This year, Motorola launched Razr Maxx HD which was packed with some amazing features and the same 3300 mAh battery.

Now, it seems that other manufacturers are ready to join the bandwagon. Lenovo has recently launched the Android powered Lenovo P770 smartphone which comes with a 3500 mAh Li-Po battery. ZTE N880E Gets The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Update

Earlier this month, Google released the much-awaited Nexus 4 smartphone in the US. It is the first smartphone which runs on the latest Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. Now, ZTE became the first Chinese vendor to launch an Android smartphone with Android 4.2 OS. The Chinese mobile phone manufacturer has recently started rolling out latest version of the Android OS to its mid-range ZTE N880E smartphone.

I’m sure most of you might have never heard of this smartphone. The ZTE N880E was originally launched in May this year. It was one of the first handsets to run on the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS. This handset comes with a 4 inch touchscreen display, 1 GHz processor, 3.2 megapixel camera, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB internal memory and so on.

Samsung Launches The Dual-SIM Galaxy Note II In China

Samsung Galaxy Note II is the company’s second phone/tablet hybrid device. It was unveiled in September at the IFA 2012 event in Berlin. This device is selling like hot cakes in most of the Asian and European markets. Samsung already managed to sell 3 million units of this device in just 37 days. Cashing in on the success of the Galaxy Note II, Samsung went a step ahead and announced the dual-SIM variant of this popular phablet.

The Dual-SIM variant of the Galaxy Note II will ship with the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. This device packs a micro-SIM slot as well as a full-size SIM slot. It comes with radios for GSM 850/900/1, 800/1,900, and WCDMA 850/900/1,900/2100 MHz. Dual-SIM Galaxy Note II will go on sale starting next month in China. There are no major changes in the specs of this device.
