LG Optimus L7 II Dual And Optimus L3 II Dual Launched In India

Earlier this year, LG unveiled three new mid-range smartphones, the Optimus L7 II, Optimus L5 II and Optimus L3 II. As the name suggests, these handsets are the successor of the LG Optimus L7, Optimus L5 and Optimus L3 respectively. These devices run on the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. Today, LG officially launched the dual-SIM variant of Optimus L7 II and Optimus L3 II in India.

According to Mr. Amit Gujral, Head Marketing, LG Mobiles,
“The smartphone market is growing at an incredible pace, and the global mobile subscribers is predicted to touch 3.9 billion in 2017. India is catching up fast to this smartphone race. LG Optimus L3 II Dual comes with a 3.2 inch touchscreen display, sporting a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM7225A Snapdragon processor, 3.2 megapixel front-facing camera, 4 GB internal memory, MicroSD card slot, 32 GB expandable memory, A-GPS, 512 MB RAM, up to 730 hours of stand-by time, up to 16 hours 30 mins of talk-time and a 1540 mAh battery.

LG Optimus L7 II Dual features a 4.3 inch IPS display, sporting a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon dual-core processor, 8 megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash, HD (720p) video recording, VGA front-facing camera, 4 GB internal memory, MicroSD card slot, 32 GB expandable memory, A-GPS, 768 MB RAM, up to 800 hours of stand-by time, up to 12 hours of talk-time and a 2460 mAh battery.

LG Optimus L7 II Dual comes with a price tag of Rs.18,650 (approx. $340), while the LG Optimus L3 II Dual is priced at just Rs.8,800 (approx. $160).

AT&T Optimus G Android 4.1 Update Rolling Out

Last year, LG launched the powerful Optimus G smartphone. This handset was exclusively sold to the AT&T subscribers in the US. LG Optimus G was packed with some powerful specs, however the device was shipped with the old Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. Today, AT&T finally started rolling out the new Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for this device.

The latest update brings several enhancements, including changes to the notification display that groups updates from the same application together and allows you to expand or collapse notifications. Apart from that, it comes with Google Now, Project Butter, improved voice and data connectivity, offline text-to-speech, better performance in camera, new Gallery app, improved power management and advanced notifications.

The Android 4.1 update will also enable the Isis Mobile Wallet on the LG Optimus G. The Wallet is a free app that stores virtual version of payment and loyalty cards while organizing offers and deals. This update can be easily downloaded via Over-The-Air (OTA). To get this update, just select Settings > General > About phone > Software Update > Update now and follow the instructions.

Facebook And HTC Unveils ‘First’ Smartphone; Coming To AT&T On April 12

Today, Facebook finally unveiled the much-awaited Facebook Home, which is basically a home screen launcher for Android smartphones. At the same event, HTC and Facebook announced the new HTC First smartphone. It is the first device that has been optimized for Facebook Home. HTC First will be exclusively available for AT&T and EE customers in the US and UK respectively.

HTC First features a 4.3 inch touchscreen display, sporting a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, HD (720p) video recording, full HD (1080p) video playback, 1.6 megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and so on.

Other features include a 3.5 mm headset jack, FM Radio with RDS, WiFi 801.11 a/b/g/n, 4G LTE Connectivity, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory, NFC (Near Field Communication), Bluetooth 4.0, Google Play Store, up to 14.3 hours of talk-time, up to 18.2 hours of standby time and a 2000 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Win Announced In China

Samsung recently announced the Android powered Galaxy Win in China. According to SammyHub, this handset will carry the model number GT-I8552, while the manufacturer will also sell other variants including I869 and I8558 for different carriers. Galaxy Win will be shipped with the old Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System.

Samsung Galaxy Star And Galaxy Pocket Neo Announced

Samsung recently announced Galaxy Star and Galaxy Pocket Neo entry-level Android phones. These devices will be available in both single SIM and dual SIM versions. Galaxy Star and Galaxy Pocket Neo users can scan the Bluetooth connected devices or wireless access points by simply shaking the devices. These smartphones run on the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System.

Samsung has not yet announced the price and availability of these devices. Galaxy Star and Galaxy Pocket Neo will compete with Nokia’s Asha smartphones and other entry-level Android phones.

Samsung Galaxy S II Gets The Android 4.1.2 Update In India

Samsung Galaxy S II needs no introduction! It is the successor of the popular Galaxy S smartphone. The Korean mobile phone manufacturer has already managed to sell more than 20 million units of this device globally. Samsung Galaxy S II was originally shipped with the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System. Last year, Samsung Galaxy S II users have also received the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update.

Earlier this year, Samsung started rolling out the newer Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for this device in Europe. After waiting for nearly 3 months, Indian Galaxy S II users can finally taste the Jelly Bean. The latest update can be easily downloaded via Over-The-Air (OTA). If you have not yet received the update, then just go to Settings > About Device > System updates and check for the update. Samsung has also promised to roll out the latest Android 4.2 update during the Q4 of 2013.

Nexus 7 32GB Wi-Fi-Only And 3G Launched In India

Last week, Google officially started selling the Nexus 7 tablet in India. However, the 32 GB Wi-Fi variant as well as the 3G variant of this tablet were missing from the Play Store. Within a week, Asus went ahead and launched these variants in India. Nexus 7 will be shipped with the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. Nexus 7 32GB Wi-Fi and 3G will not be available via Play Store. These devices will be sold through Asus retail partners.

Huawei Ascend G510 And Ascend Y300 Up For Pre-Order In India

Earlier this year, Huawei introduced two new entry-level smartphone, the Ascend G510 and Ascend Y300. Both of these smartphones runs on the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. Flipkart, a popular online retailer have already started taking the pre-orders of these handsets in India.

Sprint’s Epic 4G Touch Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update Available Now

Sprint and Samsung have started rolling out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for their variant of the Galaxy S2 – the Epic 4G Touch. The update will bring with it quite a bunch of new features as seen on the international Galaxy S2, including Smart Stay, Direct Call and more.

The usual Android 4.1 Jelly Bean enhancements are also present including Google Now, Project Butter for buttery-smooth UI, enhanced speech-to-text with offline mode support, and expandable notifications among other things.

Samsung is not rolling out the update via OTA, and Sprint SGS2 owners need to use KIES on a Windows XP or Windows 7 based PC to get the update. The update needs to be manually downloaded from here, and weighs in a whopping 520MB+. Your data will be left untouched, but it is highly recommended that you make a backup before proceeding with the update. While KIES does not officially support Windows 8, the application and the update process works flawlessly on the latest OS from Microsoft.

Hopefully, AT&T and other U.S operators will soon release the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for their variant of the Galaxy S2 as well.

Verizon Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II Gets The Android 4.1 Update

Last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy Stratosphere II smartphone exclusively for the Verizon Wireless subscribers in the US. As the name suggests, this handset is the successor of the entry-level Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere. This unique smartphone comes with a touchscreen display as well as a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II was shipped with the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. Verizon has recently announced that the carrier will soon roll out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for this device. As usual, this update will brings Google Now, Project Butter, improved voice and data connectivity, new Gallery app, offline text-to-speech, better performance in camera, improved power management and advanced notifications.
