2 Million Samsung Galaxy Note Units Sold Globally

Samsung was recently awarded ‘The Device Manufacturer of the Year’ award by GSMA at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 in Barcelona. The company is known for manufacturing some of the amazing and powerful Android smartphones and tablets. Last year, Samsung announced the company’s first phone/tablet hybrid device, the Samsung Galaxy Note. This device was originally unveiled at the IFA 2011.

The Samsung Galaxy Note was released in October in most of the Asian and European markets. As usual, the device was not launched in the US soon after the announcement. The sales of this device was quite low, compared to the sales of Samsung Galaxy S II. Most of the users did not like the large display, while the others were quite excited about the display and the S-Pen.

During the end of 2011, Samsung announced that the global sales of Galaxy Note has crossed 1 million units. This was achieved even before the device was officially launched in the US. Earlier this year, Samsung finally announced the availability of Galaxy Note LTE in the US at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012 in Las Vegas. This device is exclusively available to the AT&T subscribers in the US.

Samsung was quite confident that the global sales will double soon after the official launch of this device in the US. The company’s prediction came out to be true! Samsung recently announced that the company has managed to sell more than 2 million units within 5 months of its official launch.

Out of the 2 million units, the company has sold more than 700,000 units in Korea alone. This device is selling like a hot cakes in its home country as well as in France, Germany, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The sales of this device in India is highly disappointing, compared to the Galaxy S II.

The Samsung Galaxy Note currently runs on the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System. However, the company has promised to roll out the much-awaited Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update in the coming weeks. Samsung plans to sell more than 10 million units of this device by the end of this year. Do you think that the Galaxy Note will achieve the 10 million mark in 2012?
