AMD Posts Q2 Financial Results

Facebook Complains About The Performance Of Latest Intel And AMD Processors

Gadgets News Facebook has been complaining about how their latest racks of server from AMD and Intel have been unable to provide them the performance improvement which both the companies have been claiming. Facebook Vice President Jonathan Heiliger said that the engineers at Facebook have hardly seen any performance improvement and energy saving from the new processors from Intel and AMD which both the companies tout. Jonathan Heiliger said, "The biggest thing that surprised us … is the less-than-anticipated performance gains from new micro architectures. Gadgets News All the high-end processors of Intel came with Virtualization support but Intel never really equipped there lower end processors with virtualization whereas AMD on the other hand had added virtualization support to most of their processors in their line-up. Virtualization allows a user to run an operating system from within an operating system. Processors that supported Virtualization at hardware level provide better performance when/if a user runs an virtualized Operating system. Most of the users did not care for Virtualization since not many people require it and since the lower end Intel Chips were terrific overclocker, most of the people used to grab Intel’s lower end CPU’s, but all this is going to change with Windows 7. Samsung Set To Launch Notebook Based On Nvidia ION Platform

Gadgets News Samsung is soon going to launch a notebook dubbed N510, based on Nvidia’s ION Platform. The Notebook will be equipped with an Intel N280 (1.6Ghz) Processor along with an integrated chipset based on 9400M. The notebook is rumoured to come with 11.6inch screen having a resolution of 1366*768. The notebook is also going to come with the usual 1Gb DDR2/DDR3 RAM, 160GB HDD, 3 in 1 Card Reader, 6 Celled Battery, Wi-Fi and finally Bluetooth.
