Zynga just announced its earnings for Q3 2012, with revenue of $317 million, up 3% year-over-year, and a net loss of $53 million.

Zynga announced preliminary financial results on Thursday. It has projected revenue in the range of $300 to $305 million, and expects to book a net loss of around $90 to $105 million, due to impairment of OMGPOP assets.

Zynga has acquired a California based game maker, A Bit Lucky Inc., for around $20 million.

Multiple law firms have announced that they will be investigating Zynga’s secondary stock sale for possible insider stock trading violations, after its stock crashed 40% following its Q2 earnings release.

Zynga posted Q2 2012 earnings today, with revenue of $332 million, up 19% year-over-year, but a net loss of $22.8 million. Its stock has crashed 40% post-earnings.

The maker of Angry Birds, Rovio Mobile has acquired the gaming division of FutureMark, the benchmark creator.

Zynga may be looking to acquire OMGPOP, the maker of the very popular mobile game – Draw Something.

Zynga posted its Q4 2011 earnings results. It generated a total of $1.14 billion in revenue in 2011, and now has over 240 million monthly active users.

Zynga went public on Friday, and made a disappointing debut, ending 5% below the offer price.

Zynga will commence its IPO roadshow on December 5. It is expected to raise nearly $1 billion at a valuation of around $15 – $20 billion.

Rumors that Facebook will be going public soon have been rekindled by a news report which claims that Zuckerberg said that the Facebook IPO is coming.

Zynga has launched its own social gaming network – Zynga Direct. It’s a new distribution network which gives Zynga a way to reach consumers directly, without relying on Facebook.

EA announced that it has acquired PopCap Games for $750 million in cash and stock, plus a $550 million earnout. With the acquisition, EA becomes the second biggest social gaming company in the world, with nearly 50 million monthly active users.

Zynga, the creator of Farmville and Mafia Wars has filed its S-1 with the SEC. It aims to raise $1 billion at a $20 billion valuation.

EA may be in talks with PopCap games, the creator of Bejeweled and Plants vs Zombies about a possible acquisition for over $1 billion.
