Although the modern Windows Start Menu is widely considered to be better than its predecessor, I know a lot of people who continue to prefer the older Classic Start Menu. The bad news for them is that Microsoft has decided to completely abandon the Classic Start Menu. Windows Seven doesn’t even ship with it. The good news is that there are third party applications which can fill the void.
CSMenu is a freeware whose sole function is to bring back the Classic Menu in Windows Seven. In order to use CSMenu you will need to first add it to Startup Programs and Pin it to the Taskbar. CSMenu doesn’t replace the original Start Menu. Instead it adds another Start button, which is similar to (but smaller than) the actual Start Menu button. In case you want to get rid of the original Start Menu button you will need to resort to Start Killer.

CSMenu does have its own limitations. On my system CS Menu took a couple of seconds to appear while the Start Menu always appeared instantly. The other major limitation is that you can’t right click on any of the icons in CSMenu. However, it is a viable option if you prefer the familiarity and simplicity of the Classic Start Menu.
