  • Most antivirusses block autorun.inf

Do you know of any other way to change the drive icon (for a removable drive , such that it stays the same on any pc)

i’ve tried the desktop.ini option too, that doesnt work…

    • In case of removable drive, it may be a bit difficult to specify an icon that works in multiple computers. This is because when you plug the USB stick, the drive letter is chosen by the OS and not you. Once the device is in, you may specify an icon but it won’t last permanently.

This is because when you unplug the device, the drive label is reassigned. The article discusses how you can change the basic drives of Windows using the freeware utility. Thanks for the comment.

Works as stated. I run Norton and have no problems with autorun.inf on my flash drives. It’s nice to have all the icons consistent between my flash drives and different computers also.
