Add Remove Program Alternatives for Windows

Adding and Removing programs are part of a regular computer lifecycle. You may install new software and try it out, then uninstall it after a certain amount of the time. The regular Add Remove Program available using the keyboard shortcut appwiz.cpl when typed into the windows run dialog. Many users are not exactly happy with the regular add or remove programs options provided by default Windows Installation.

There are quite a few alternatives though which are much better and perform faster than the regular add remove programs. We’ll profile few of those alternatives which could make your program maintenance tasks a bit easier.

MyUninstaller

This is one of the most popular programs that is available as an alternative to the regular add remove programs. It displays a list of all the installed programs on the computer and allows you to run the uninstall process. You can also use the software to delete a pesky software whose entry was not deleted even though you uninstalled the software.

You also have the option to save the list of installed programs to a text or html file. Very useful when you are trying to reformat of buy a new PC and want to list out all the applications you used on the old PC.

MyUninstaller does not in itself uninstall the programs instead it uses the programs own uninstall process to do that.

Argente Uninstall Manager

This is another alternative which allows you to uninstall the programs. The Uninstall Manager displays the list of all installed application, and allows you to uninstall an application, delete an uninstall entry, and save the list of all installed applications into a text file.

Uninstall Manager also provides additional information for most installed applications that the standard Add/Remove applet doesn’t display: version, uninstall string, and installed date.
