Twitter Redesigns, Adds Better Navigation, Ajax Updates and New Design Options

(follow me) is one of my favorite micro-blogging service, along with my tumblr blog. Logging into twitter today, I was surprised to see a new design in place, which really looked quite good.

This update include several new and exciting features such as better navigation where the tabs have now been moved to the right hand side, making it easy for users to navigate through replies and direct messages. In addition to that you can also view your stats with a quick glance.

But putting the tabs into the sidebar is not the only thing they did, replies and updates are not powered by Ajax, so you can view your replies and updates without having to refresh the page.

In addition to the front end changes, twitter has also made it easier for users to change their home page designs with a enhanced design settings page. This is a huge leap from the earlier design option twitter provided users with and it definitely makes it easy for users to update their designs.

The design definitely adds a much fresher look to twitter, what are your thoughts about the new design? Do you like it or do you hate it? Don’t forget to follow me and get regular updates from me @twitter.

I started using twitter and at first didn’t care for the layout and usability. The new format and layout I think is much better and obviously came from some user feedback. Not that I didn’t like it but just found some of the features bulky. I agree that it now has much better navigation. Thanks for the post.
