Entrepreneur and investor Bill Gross, the CEO of UberMedia, a social media company that specialized in creating social networking apps like Echofon and UberSocial/Twidroyid, has officially launched a new social networking site, which is supposedly the clone of – Twitter, Facebook, Digg and Reddit – called Chime.in

After Google integrated the “translate” feature into its social network, which allows users to translate posts and comments into 50 different languages, Facebook, as usual has followed the footprints of Google+, and quietly announced the launch of “translate” button – powered by Microsoft’s Bing.

Facebook has partnered with WebSense and has updated its security feature that will its prevent users from clicking malware and phishing links. WebSense will analyze URLs clicked on Facebook and will display a warning message if the website is found unsafe to visit.

Recently Facebook made some changes to the appearance of profiles and added some new features, which the users found it too annoying. You might have come across blogs indicating the trick to get back the old Facebook UI by changing the preferred language to English (UK), and indeed the trick stopped working as Facebook fixed the issue. However, there is still a way to get back the old UI, and interestingly it works in a similar fashion by changing the preferred language.

When a user clicks on an image, the lightbox appears with a dark background along with the comment box. However, I noticed a different lightbox today, and I guess Facebook is experimenting and will probably change the appearance of the lightbox. The new “expected” lightbox which I noticed today had a white background instead of black, and along with it, the image had a “Like”, “Comment” and “Tag Photo” links embedded on it.
