Zuckerberg are you Listening?
When it comes to social networking, Facebook has been paving the way constantly with a horde of new features and updates to its navigation and looks. With over 800 million active users and counting, Facebook has changed social media in just five years. People are virtually living their LIVES on Facebook. Don’t get me wrong though. While Facebook crushes the competition as far as social media networking is concerned, it still has some flaws. Below I have listed my top annoyances with Facebook.
Facebook launched its updated Facebook Chat to include a new chat sidebar. This sidebar lists those people who you chat with the most. It also allows users to invite multiple friends to a chat. However, not everyone seems to be happy with the new layout. First of all, you can’t customize the appearance of the list of friends you message or chat with the most in the sidebar. At present, the names are sorted alphabetically. This means that if your best buddy’s name starts with a V, you will have to scroll down right to the end of the list to be able to chat with him/her. Not being able to chat quickly with close friends can be quite annoying as many users have complained. Second, users can’t resize the chat window or even move it away. While the sidebar can be hidden, it often pops up after some time. The most annoying aspect of Facebook Chat is the speed, it’s often very sluggish and seems to drop out complete sentences without any reason.
Facebook Photo Viewer
While there have been mixed reviews about the Facebook Photo Viewer, there is still a lot of frustration regarding how the new update completely spoils the user experience. The light box is particularly annoying to the eye. Basically, it’s just a bad visual, which doesn’t match the overall Facebook design. More importantly, pictures are displayed in smaller formats, so viewers get a poorer visual experience as compared to the previous format. Besides that, many users have also complained about slow loading times with the new layout.
Facebook Sidebar Ticker
The Facebook Sidebar Ticker on the upper right side corner of the screen constantly updates users about what their friends are doing in real time. Who actually likes the constant updates about friends liking’ some pointless post like I really love my boyfriendor OMG Ben had jam on his toast today. As if that wasn’t annoying enough, Facebook has just found another way to be all the more objectionable with advertisements. Sponsored stories have already made their way to the ticker for some users. A wider roll-out is expected soon. Disingenuous promos from retail web stores may now be lurking around the corner.
While Facebook sure is a lot of fun, its constant interface changes are irritating. Granted, innovation is needed, but sometimes things are better if left alone. Just as users cope up with one change, there’s a new one already on its way to breed more confusion. Nothing annoys Facebook users more.
