Massive Earthquake Strikes Off The Coast Of Chile; 1.2 Million People Potentially Affected

There are reports of a massive earthquake coming in from Chile. The earthquake measures 6.2 on the Richter Scale and took place at a place offshore from Bio-Bio, Chile, about 50 km away from the moderately populated town of Concepcion. The epicenter lies 29.7 km or 18.5 miles below the Earth’s surface. The earthquake took place in the afternoon at 01:05 PM local time, which is 16:05 GMT.

The event has been declared as a Green alert and it affects a potential 1.2 million people. Preliminary news doesn’t suggest the possibility of any tsunami. The epicenter lies about 30-50 km away from the nearest coastline.
