By on January 2nd, 2012

Yet another scam is reportedly spreading like wildfire on the social networking giant, Facebook. The latest scam is circulating with the title – “Selena Gomez Caught On (LEAKED Tape)” followed by a message – “you will lost your all respect for Selena Gomez after watching this” enticing people to click on the message link, which will direct them to a bogus web page.

Selena Gomez Caught On (LEAKED Tape)

Clicking the scam link will take you to a bogus web page. You will be presented with a fake YouTube video player. Clicking on the play button will open up a pop-up message box asking you to complete online surveys before you can watch the video. This in turn will click-jack and like-jack you Facebook account by automatically posting the same scam message on your Facebook Timeline.

Note: The scam uses multiple domains. You may see variations in the landing pages, but they are all the same.

Even after completing the online surveys, there is no video shown. Scammers trick users by posting content like this in order to get users complete online surveys. Sometimes, they try to extract your personal information as well as financial details, like credit card number or bank account number. Entering these details will pose serious threats to your accounts, so please avoid entering your credentials.

I suggest you to remove the scam from your news feed by clicking on the Xmark on the top-right corner of the post. Alternatively you can report the scam to the  Facebook Security team.
