Yesterday we reported the new scam spreading on the social network Facebook – Get a Free Pair of Toms Shoes (Limited Time Only). Today we’re seeing a similar giveaway scam that is spreading like wildfire on Facebook.
The new scam titled – “Receive 4 Free Six Flags Tickets (Limited Time Only)” is spreading with the message – “Six flags is currently giving away 4 free tickets to each Facebook user for a limited amount of time!”

Please be aware that this is a scam message and there are no tickets given away for free. Clicking the link in the message will lead you to a site as shown below -

You will notice the logo of Six Flags along with a fake “Tickets Remaining” countdown. You are asked to “share” the message with your friends on Facebook and also add a comment stating “Thanks, I love Six Flags!!!” In the next step you will be asked to enter your email address and other contact information. It is advised that you avoid sharing your contact information on sites like this as the scammers may start spamming your inbox with fake offers.
The new scam is similar to the other Gift Card scams which have been doing the rounds of Facebook lately and asks users to complete a survey before they can get hold of the “free tickets”.
Scammers create such Facebook pages with names such as Apple iPad Beta Testers Wanted, Free Facebook Shoes, Free iPad Giveaway!” and so on, in order to target on people who desire to win free gifts. Facebook pages like this are created to increase the number of likes.
The ultimate goal of scammers is to get as many numbers of shares and likes. You’re just being tricked into “liking” a Facebook page which will gain you nothing. As soon as you “like” something on Facebook, the link is shared with your friends. They in turn may click on it – just as you did – and then continue spreading this nonsensicality.
It is recommended that you avoid clicking such link messages on Facebook and also warn your friends about it.
With over 800 million users on Facebook, the social networking giant has always been the main target for spreading scams and spam messages. It is quite difficult to identify scams on Facebook.
