XpressEXIF

XpressEXIF

XpressEXIF is a picture viewer developed by Igor, aka kAIST, developer of apps like XpressBeer, XpressAlarm and MyFTP.

Like all of Igor’s creations, there is more to this viewer than meets the eye. It features a slick kinetic scrolling interface that gives it a smooth touch. Although it’s extra cool, the image gallery is much the same as any other image viewer. The real fun begins when you select an image. Instead of the usual full-screen view, we get something like this:

XpressEXIF

XpressEXIF

It gives detailed information about the picture which can sate any photography buff out there.

The button with mountains, which is indicated by the arrow,  brings up the traditional picture viewer app.

For those who don’t know, the EXIF data is a collection of metadata tags containing certain information about the photograph, including but not limited to:

  • Location
  • Time
  • Date
  • Thumbnail for viewing in photo manipulation and viewing applications
  • Image description notes
  • Copyright information
  • Camera setting parameters.

The best part of this software is that it’s gallery is updated as soon as a new picture is added. This means that we can check on a picture as soon as we click it.

We can’t edit the EXIF data as of now but since this is an actively developed project, we can hope for it in the future. Igor made it a freeware but you and I can contribute to his efforts by following the instructions on his site.
