Samsung started rolling out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S II back in late March itself. However, owners of operator variants of the phone had to wait a little longer, until their carrier tests the update and verifies it does not break any functionality.
Starting from today, Vodafone UK branded Galaxy S II owners can update their handset to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. As of now, the update is available via KIES so users need to use their PC to update their SGS2 to ICS. The OTA update will go live on April 17th, which is just around the corner as well. The Ice Cream Sandwich update for Galaxy S2 does not bring many changes, visually. The whole UI looks similar as it looked on Gingerbread. Blame Samsung for doing a brilliant job of stripping down all the visual goodies from ICS and bloating it with TouchWIZ.
Prior to this announcement, Vodafone UK had re-scheduled the ICS update for the SGS2 twice so don’t get shocked if it again delays the OTA update for some reason. Interested Vodafone UK Galaxy S2 owners can find more information about the update here.
