Along with the availability of Samsung Galaxy Tab, Verizon also announced a new budget phone, the Samsung Brightside. It is basically an entry-level handset with a 3.1 inch touchscreen display as well as a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. This device will be exclusively available to the Verizon Wireless subscribers in the US.
Samsung has already launched some budget devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Y and the Samsung Wave Y which runs on the Android and Bada OS respectively. However, this device runs on the Samsung’s proprietary OS. The slide-out QWERTY keyboard will help the users to quickly send text messages and update social networking sites on the go.
The Samsung Brightside features a 3.1 inch touchscreen display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Samsung’s proprietary OS, 3.2 megapixel camera with timer, brightness control and shooting modes, Document viewer with support for Microsoft Office formats and Adobe PDF, Facebook and Twitter apps, microSD card slot, Bluetooth and much more.
Samsung has not yet announced the complete specs of this device. The Samsung Brightside will be available for Verizon Wireless subscribers from March 1, 2012. You can get this device for just $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a two year service agreement.
