Last year, Motorola launched its powerful Android powered rugged smartphone, the Motorola Defy. This handset is pretty amazing, but it originally runs on the old Android 2.1 (Eclair) Operating System. Motorola and AT&T have already started rolling out the Android 2.2 Froyo update in the US, but the Motorola Defy customers in the UK were left behind.
T-Mobile UK recently tweeted from their official Twitter account that, the Android 2.2 Froyo update for Motorola Defy will start rolling out to the T-mobile UK customer at the the beginning of July. The update is expected to be available within the first half of July, to almost all the T-Mobile Motorola Defy owners. The Android Froyo update will be available via. Over-The-Air (OTA).
The new software update comes with a new revamped User Interface, new Task manager app, Wi-Fi Hotspot capability, Linked-In account integration, Adobe Flash support, ability to store the applications on the device’s microSD card, added security features, including Exchange-based encryption and password security.
It is advised to backup all your data before updating the device. You should also have at least 50% charged battery in your phone and an active SIM card installed before updating to Android 2.2. We will let you know, as soon as the update is available for the Motorola Defy in the UK. Stay tuned!
