Nearly 10 days ago, Samsung and Sprint started rolling out the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Epic 4G, when most people thought the phone will never get updated to Gingerbread.
Now, Samsung has teamed up with T-Mobile to release the Gingerbread update for another phone – the Galaxy S 4G – whose owners must have already given up the hope for the update.
The Gingerbread update will bring all of the goodies included in Gingerbread including an enhanced copy and paste functionality, Download Manager app, improvement in the performance and stability department, and a longer battery life. The update also fixes some bugs, and brings some enhancements in the camera and Wi-Fi department of the phone.
T-Mobile Galaxy S4G owners need to use Samsung’s KIES software to update their phone to Gingerbread. The software update (Firmware version KJ6) won’t be rolled out via OTA (Over-The-Air). A step by step procedure on how to update your phone to Gingerbread can be found over at T-Mobile’s support page.
