Swype breaks fastest Text Message World Record, heads to Guinness Book

Swype is an award winning and hyped keyboard for Android. It has a steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it is an awesome keyboard and can increase your typing speed considerably. Soon after its launch, Swype turned some heads with its typing capabilities and an intern at Swype earned the Guinness book record for fastest text message ever.

Recently, the record was broken, this time by a woman in Britain who was using Swype as well. She is now the new Guinness world record holder and the best part is that the woman was invited into a Motorola roadshow and asked to try out the Swype keyboard on the Samsung Galaxy S.

The woman was able to key in the phrase “the razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human” in just 25.94 seconds. The last record was held on the Samsung Omnia II at around 35 second for the same phrase.

Considering that it took me about 5 minutes to get started with swype, I obviously don’t agree that it has a steep learning curve. Yeah, you grow more comfortable with it as you get used to it. But, thats true even for the default touchscreen keyboard.

Btw, the previous world record was also achieved with swype. You are one of the few people who hate/can’t get the hang of swype.

How do you know that I cannot get the hang of Swype? Are you living in your own Dunning Kruger world! IF you think you are a pro with Swype, why don’t you go break the record! I can still type faster than you on my multitouch k/b and the admin @technoplanet beat you using his physical QWERTY k/b on a stupid Nokia phone with poorly spaced keys! Duh! So, I can guess what you learnt in those five minutes. LOL. You using Swype is just a gimmick.

LOL. Touched a raw nerve or something? You used ‘!’ to end four consecutive sentences. Anyway, calm down.

How do you know that I cannot get the hang of Swype?

        Because you told me so.

        you on my multitouch k/b

Last I noticed, you were using the HTC IME, which doesn’t support multi-touch. Multi-touch phone != multi-touch keyboard. But yeah, I guess placebo works.

Regarding rest of your P.A., I wiil do what I always do with them :P.

As I already said, I know you cannot because you could not and a guy defeated you in typing speed using a physical k/b. Give it up dude! As for ” Multi-touch phone != multi-touch keyboard”! Thanks for stating the obvious.
