After quite a few announcements, and a delay, Sony is all set to start rolling out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for its handsets. Initially, Sony is only rolling out the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Xperia Arc S, Neo V and the Ray. The update will be available for Xperia owners in Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Norway, and will roll-out to more countries over the next 4-6 weeks.
If you own an operator branded Xperia handset, the update might take some more time to show up. Users can check whether the software kit for their operator and region is available or not from here. The software update is not an OTA one, and users need to use Sony’s PC Companion to install the Ice Cream Sandwich update on their handset.
Owners of Xperia Arc, Neo, Mini, Play, Live with Walkman, active and Pro will get to taste Ice Cream Sandwich by the end of May or early June. Sony has also promised to roll-out the Ice Cream Sandwich update for its current flagship phone, the Xperia S, sometime in Q2 of this year.
