Sony Ericsson just announced that a new software update for the Xperia X10 has been released. However, the software update won’t bring Android 2.1 yet. This software update will improve performance and stability on the X10.
Sony Ericsson also said that they will be providing a free backup application along with the update, which will help in storing the phone’s settings and information in itself. Sony Ericsson also announced that, in select markets Play Now will be added, from which applications and games can be downloaded. Sony Ericsson said that, there are speed improvements in messaging tasks and camera UI.
The update can also be downloaded OTA on your mobile by the mobile connection or Wi-Fi. The update is still not available in India. We will keep you updated about its availability. So, X10 users keep looking for the notification bar to report for an update.
Update, 5th July 2010, 8:15PM: I have not been prompted for an update on my Xperia X10 in India (Kolkata). As far as I know, there has been no report of any update in India. The users like me in India, will have to wait a bit longer.
Update, 7th July 2010, 9:12PM: The update is now available in India for download. I can see improvements in the UI of the Mediascape application. The audio quality has also improved a lot. The Backup and Restore application is also available now, it will help in backing up everything on your sd card.
