Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Finally Rooted!

Few weeks ago, a news broke out that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has been rooted, which unfortunately turned out to be fake and disappointed the fellow users. Now the developers have claimed along with a proof that the X10 has been finally rooted. The image shows the first production unit which has been rooted.

The Xperia X10 users can now unleash the full capabilities of X10, which was hidden beneath the preloaded Android 1.6. The possibilities of loading Android 2.2 on X10 can also be possible(have to wait for it), but Android 2.1 will definitely come on the X10 before Q3. The root has not been publically released yet. But the developers have said that, they will release it when they are sure it is ready to roll out.

When a new Android device is released, a bounty is set by the developers for the first person to get access to the root. The bounty amount on the X10 rose up to $1650 last month, which is finally achieved by jerpelea, biktor_gj and bin4ry of the xda forums. Now, all the X10 users have a reason to cheer because they will not be bound with the outdated Android 1.6 on their device anymore.

  • Finally! I guess jerpelea, biktor_gj and bin4ry will now get quite a hefty bounty that had been assembled for the X10 root. Congrats to all of them. Can't wait for the instructions.

  • Btw, I believe only the OS has been rooted. So you won't yet be able to flash unsigned ROMs (as in Android 2.1 or 2.2).

Do you know if it is possible to do this now=? And could it be bad for the phone? Please respond…. Thanks

      • No. Full root is yet to be achieved. But, we are definitely very close. You can monitor this link for the latest developments.
