Samsung Announces The Galaxy Xcover 2 Rugged Smartphone

Last year, Samsung launched the Android powered Galaxy Xcover smartphone. This year, the Korean Mobile phone manufacturer is back with its successor, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2. This handset is specially designed for active explorers who are enjoying outdoor lifestyles and seeking a durable mobile device with essential smartphone capabilities.

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 is an IP67 certified device. It is not only dust proof and sand proof, but it is also a water resistant smartphone. This handset also allows you to take pictures under water with the help of its dedicated camera key. It also packs a pre-downloaded Google map data, an enhanced GPS + GLONASS which shortens the satellite signal detection by up to 20% to tracks your location more accurately.

Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 features a 4 inch WVGA touchscreen display, sporting a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 1 GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS, TouchWiz UI, 5 megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash, VGA front-facing camera for video calls and more.

Other features include a 3.5 mm headset jack, FM Radio with RDS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G Connectivity, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB internal memory, MicroSD card slot, 32 GB expandable memory, GPS with A-GPS, Cardio Trainer Pro, Bluetooth 4.0, S-Pen, S Note, S Planner, Samsung Hub, Samsung Apps, Samsung Kies, DLNA, Google Play Store, Wi-Fi Direct and a 1,700 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 comes pre-loaded with the Cardio Trainer Pro workout app which will help you achieve your fitness goals by creating a training program, checking your progress and recording your track and speed. The price and release date of this handset has not been announced yet.
