Earlier this month, Samsung started rolling out a new software update in the United Kingdom for its recently released flagship droid – the Samsung Galaxy S III. While Samsung did not provide any official change-log for the update, users who installed the update suggested that it included a new radio, an updated kernel, some bug fixes and more.
Now, it looks like Samsung is slowly rolling out the update in India as well. I got the 21MB update notification on my Galaxy S III earlier today via OTA. I did not notice any immediate change in the performance or stability of the handset post the update though. Considering the size difference between the OTA update being rolled out in the U.K and in India (9MB vs 21MB), I am not sure if the OTA update in India brings more bug-fixes and changes with it or not.
If you live in India, and have not already got the OTA update notification, head over to Settings -> About Phone and select the Software Update option. The phone should then automatically notify you of a new software update. Alternatively, users can also use Samsung’s KIES software to update their handset to install this update.
